Truck washing (Soaps, Tips and Tricks)

Do you guys clean trucks at the big truck stops at all, like Loves? I thought I saw @pressureguy there when he was showing off his 2 step gun. Do you just talk to the GM of the truck stop to see if you can clean there?

I don’t but I’ve thought about it. Not sure how I would go about it.

I have. If I get one it be the 3 way @SchertzServicesLLC Box. Seems to be the most reliable. I gotta worry about my 1 particular acid eating it up.

I’ll make one up with some pictures. Got a lot going on today but I’ll get to it eventually.

You do realize that you can’t use Dyna clean to upstream, right ?

Using film fighter right now but why not?

I’m assuming because of the high PH. Film Fighter is pretty high too. I’ll have to look for something a little milder to try out.

Bingo @pressureguy . Ya gotta b around 8 to save your pump being rebuilt alot. You will still need to rebuild your pump head frequently ,when running a milder soap.Your coil should be fine for years to come

From what I’ve read and researched, the pumps that can handle alot of upstreaming are Cat and legacy pumps. I’ve got legacy pumps on both. Aka Hotsy

I might look for some cheap used hot machine locally and run it through that to see if it does any damage. Chad says film fighter should be fine.

Keep us in the loop man. I’ve used purple power in a pinch for a degreaser, straight, and soap DS at 15:1 many moons ago. Wasn’t impressive at all. And it is around 13 ph. But I also wasn’t upstreaming it. I’m curious to see if we can have a multi function machine, one day upstream, other downstream ,just bypass each with a ball valve set up.seems easy enough. Then you got the best of both worlds.

For the DS guys (@Hotshot), what size lance are you using to DS? Our supplier here can order the 72" dual lance with gun for $115. It’s a landa brand so I am assuming it is decent. (right?)

In my opinion, it’s the best gun out there, holds up to hf for a long while,I gotta use ss lance’s because the aluminum one’s disintegrates after a month or so with heavy acid use @GeorgeNicholson,I run a 36" dual lance from legacy,2315 suttner gun, for my close up work ,engine bays etc, couldn’t imagine hauling around a 72" dual lance ,way to heavy, just get a black soap tip and DS

Those weren’t dual lances were they? Or you adding those pipes to your dual lance wands? I’m wanting them just for over the cabs on straight trucks, then switch back to my normal gun setup

Nope…you don’t really need a dual lance to DS. Just us a single lance and apply the black tip to acid and soap, then switch back to yellow or white to rince, same concept, just a heck of a lot lighter @GeorgeNicholson,if your wanting to get over top of cabs and hoods ,get a 45 degree elbow on the end,or just bend the end with a pipe bender from harbor freight, to your exact liking ,and skip the elbow an extra weight and Teflon tape

I never thought about a soap tip. You’ve held out on me for almost 2 months now with that tidbit of info…haha

You use the 25 or 65 degree soap tip? Does it really matter if you are just soaping? I use the 15 degree to do my rinsing.

Well at first, you were getting ready to upstream you’re acid and soaps at first, and not knowing it, so I didn’t wanna get ya to involved in tid bit stuff, baby steps brother  …Trust me ,we’ve all been there, we admitt or not on the big PWRA. LOL
