Truck washing (Soaps, Tips and Tricks)

Ya had to put me on blast! HAHAHA

So for everyone else to be in on my being an idiot. I thought I was getting ready to downstream and in reality I was up streaming all day long! Felt like the biggest boob telling @Hotshot this. But this is one of the reasons this thread is awesome, we can laugh at me but he helped me get to where I am now. Brushing a truck was taking me and my son 20 minutes. Now I can do 2-step in just under 10 by myself.

I use the white tip to rinse tractor because of the wide pattern, yellow tip on high stuff ,because it reaches higher and more of a stream to push water

I just went and picked up a 15 degree 8 orifice (giving me ~1500psi) and a 25 degree 9 orifice (giving me ~1200 psi). I don’t need the 3500 psi to clean trucks, especially when I have to stay too far back in fear of blowing stickers off. I’m about to head out in 30 to go clean some trucks so I will let ya know how it goes.

Trust me man,ppl on here except for a few veterans have no clue what upstreaming is ,even when ppl buy a home depot cheap mess that only upstreams, they still think there DS’in. Your way ahead of the game @GeorgeNicholson ,you got this bubby.

I’ll tell you this. Don’t buy any tips except one’s wrapped in plastic, I’d love a trombone nozzle etc myself to not un chuck, but you’ll end up scratching paint or putting out a window. Metal exposed tips are our enemy in DS world my friend …

I liked the rollover nozzles for switching from low to high when I was downstreaming https://www.amazon.com/MTM-16-0129-Rollover-Nozzle-Holder/dp/B01JJSXYJ2

Haven’t scratched a truck yet. Knock on wood.

I like it. But by the time you put 1/4 qc on there,or metal tips, it’s to much metal for me to be hanging out on my 36 dual lance, but it work for my longer single lances,I only use them on trailer’s only. Thank you @pressureguy,but I’ll stick to plastic ends, haven’t scratched a truck yet,you must have not hired knuckle heads for employees.me on the other hand… Lol

Wait till you have to 2 step citric and sissy soap on a highly polished rig with every letter and number and picture hand painted. Its a challenge, hence the more time and bigger wash price…

I gotta travel to the GIANT city of Little Rock tomorrow to meet my acid pimp 1/2 way to collect 6 drums of hf and what nots. I’m meeting him at OAKLEY trucking. Big outfit with there own wash bay. I’m invited to come in and meet the manager, who is willing to give me an educational tour. PS… He likes smoked, cured hams and bacon. Which is my hobby. Lol. So I’m gonna take notes and pics of their 2 gun set up. Supposed to be twice as light and twice as durable, with a $800 dollar price tag. And cheaper to run soap and acid wise. We shall see,I’ll report back tomorrow…

I think I’d just pass on that job. The risk isn’t worth the reward for me. I’m not that good yet.

I hope you take him some smoked ham and bacon! I’d love to get a nice review on that 2 step gun. See if he doesn’t mind you video of it in action, and of course his contact information. No reason to build one if I can get one at that price.

I’m gonna try to video for sure. My rememberer is broke half the time. It’s gonna be interesting to say the least, all the workers are inmates from the pulaski county jail on work release . Hope to learn alot. And also how to make toilet wine. Gonna be epic @GeorgeNicholson . :joy:

Wouldn’t that modded M5 nozzle work? Only question I have for those is does it have a position to just draw soap

I’m sure it’ll taste like piss or just a ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–  version of wine

Good point, I’ll bring my own ingredients :joy:

How much hose do you guys use? I was thinking of going to 150’ or 200’ of hose. I know I’ll have to redo my draw rate test at longer hose lengths. I just get tired of having to move my trailer when I could get to everything if I had 200’ of hose

I’m running 150’ with no problems. Also you have to consider the extra 50’ of acid and soap in the lines. But use it to upstream the tires and wheels ,so you don’t waste it

Went to Oakley trucking yesterday, it was a bust, there using the Lafferty system, low psi down streamed on a gun with 2 lines. Other gun just rinses @2000 psi
