Truck washing (Soaps, Tips and Tricks)

Love me some Diesel Kleen and I almost did that too but I couldn’t find anything perfect so I went and bought a one dollar funnel from Wally World and one dollar mini funnel from Fleabay

Got a question, why don’t you guys run an in line temp gauge coming off your coil ?

It wouldn’t last with wear and tear and accidents. I ran a 200 psi pressure gauge on my fuel pump for a night toying with the pressure and it vibrated the case screws out of the back now it’s all ratty. I’d break that temp gauge in about 4 nights

You know I looked for those screws for 15 minutes I’m so tight

Do you have to be that close with your temperature, or are you just that anal @dperez ?

I not so much anal as I am careful but to answer your question no it doesn’t have to be perfect

Lol ,thanks. I’m anal on alot of stuff. But I just try to stay near my temp goal. I use a heat gun an check every so often, its not a dead nuts as your process by any means, I was just curious @dperez

Words to follow in this industry, for sure

@pressureguy, if your using ss and dc on them tankers and they still shine like that, there is no doubt it’s stainless. You can do a magnet test, but that only works sometimes, best way is to do a key test on a spot in an inconspicuous area. Aluminum is a very soft metal

Guys, you’ll should re-label this post to truck washing so that people in the future can find easier… I 've never had any desire to wash a truck, but you guys have created some great info in this post. I’ve enjoyed reading just to learn what all you do. A lot of great info in here that should be preserved. I’ll keep carrying mine to the drive thru though, lol. Washing vehicles right up there with cleaning gutters in my book.

That’s says alot @Racer ,coming from a PWer in your caliber sir. I follow your posts religiously, thinking if I can’t wash stuff that rolls on rubber one day,I’ll wash house’s and SC. But I hope I die under a greasy ole 379 pete doing the undercarrige before I soft wash 1 house or driveway. So I understand. Lol

How do you do this? Tried to figure out how to rename it before calling it quits, albeit for 30 seconds before giving up.

Thanks for the title change IBS!

@Hotshot Have you looked at this to eliminate the ball valve before the DS Injector?

https://shop.pressurewasherky.us/Dual-Chemical-Remote-Control-REMCNTRL2.htm

It costs $375 and would eliminate having a second guy swapping soaps or you having to walk over and turn the valve yourself.

I’m going down to a couple of the local shops here to see if I can get all the pieces to make a 2-step gun and price them out. Guy at our local Landa dealer said he could get all those pieces for under $50. I just don’t see that happening but we will see.

Well I’m going to try upstreaming this coming weekend. Ordering a kit and will see how it goes. I tried just using my #2 soap with the 2-step gun and there’s barely any difference in clean and shine than with the acid. In addition my acid makes me cough and I found out that it has ABF in it which is similar to HF and I don’t trust it. Plus if I can get the same level of clean without acid and without toting around the heavy 2-step gun I’ll be able to reduce expenses, move quicker, be less fatigued, and possibly offer a lower price point to some of the more price-conscious clients.

I just don’t understand how to upstream. I have the upstream kit on my Landa, have the knob to increase/decrease the amount of soap. But the problem I have is that if I am not on the trigger it recirculates what is getting pulled from my soap drum back into the water. At least that is the way it was explained to me from my Landa guy. If that is the case, how the hell are you supposed to rinse with clean water?

Where do I find the pieces that are shown in this picture? I can get the bypass from pressuretek. Is it a special ball valve? the “L” pieces that connects to your 1/4" soap lines, anything special there as well? I’m trying to get a parts list to try and make one before buying the $1300 gun.

You’ll never be able to upstream, to get it 2 stepped clean without an acid…I haven’t bought the two step gun because of the weight ,size and all the fittings that can and do blow apart as anything else. But I also 2 step the ole school way ,So when I get to a job an it’s a mess ,it gets HF.
upstreaming is a good alternative if you don’t want to deal with acids, but be prepared for other problems, just ask @DPEREZ

Well I’m saying I ran a test and 2-stepped one side and just used #2 on the other side of a truck and the difference was negligible.

You run the bypass back into the pump like you see on homeowner machines and you have some sort of drip that prevents your pump from overheating. Not entirely sure how that works yet.

Very interested on this part. I am always looking to make it easier.

BTW, quick question. I have a 4.8gpm 3500psi machine. I want to get it down to 1500psi, I need a 8 orifice right? How does that look on the actual tip with the numbers if I want to use a 15 degree tip (150080?)
