Truck washing (Soaps, Tips and Tricks)

And so it is written.

I appreciate your feedback. Though, I do think it’s rather unfortunate that since I didn’t have an account to validate my time and research on here my inquiries above are now invalid due to gatekeeping.

My apologies.

Not sure what post it is but as far as starting out to 2 step you can go the route of a 3 way ball valve to switch between soaps

Take it easy, amigo. Just a little friendly ribbing. No need to take it to heart.

That was around post 1000-1100. I was seeing that and it was very cool. It would make it much easier than going back to the truck to switch soaps like you were doing in the beginning, iirc. I think you were saying you had to do a job yourself and you were losing a lot of time having to keep walking back to the truck to switch chems, etc.

The reason I have these questions is because I need to buy new equipment for this job. It’s expensive stuff so I want to make sure I’m doing it right the first time because times are tough for me and I can’t afford to buy twice. However, it’s worth the investment in the long run if I do a good job on these trucks. (I normally do residential stuff). I have some money in the bank from previous jobs, but work has been light in my area because of everything going on. I need to make my money last, so I want to do it right.

You won’t be spending a ton by going with the ball valve. You can be 2 stepping for around $70. Yea it sucked walking back and forth but it sure as hell a lot faster than brushing or swapping out foam cannons by yourself.

Agreed. I didn’t see your review on the Grizzly stuff. How did you like it compared to the DC/FF? Or are you still going Super Sonic + Dyna Clean?

I’ve read so many different combos that my brain is melting. Speaking of melting, are you now using HF a lot? I’m trying to figure out if that’s necessary for trailers since there won’t be as many bugs like the tractors get.

I don’t wash any polished vehicles yet, that’s @Hotshot bread and butter, so I currently use Fleet Prep (HF based acid) and Grizzly. Grizzly takes a little more to rinse but I think it cleans better and leaves a better shine than previous soaps.

And as of right now it would take some serious convincing for me to go any other route

That’s interesting! You were all about Dyna Clean and Fleet Fighter earlier in this thread. What about Grizzly do you like more?

Also, what ratios are you using for Fleet Prep and Grizzly?

Thanks for your help. I enjoyed reading your journey on here. It was cool to see all the people in here helping you too. This thread could legitimately change my life because when I washed trucks before I would so beat up from having to scrub so much.

I concur. Grizzly has more bite in the beginning and shine at the end and rinses great imo

When you mentioned it after about 500 posts i wrote his number down, haha. I will be calling him soon. I appreciate it. You’ve been HUGE in this thread, man. Big help. Really enjoyed reading all your knowledge bombs.

It’s interesting because on Hydro-Chem’s website it recommends to pair Super Sonic with Grizzly rather than Fleet Prep and Grizzly. You guys prefer Fleet Prep + Grizzly, though?

Hers how it goes.
Polished trucks get Panda and counterpunch

Non polished trucks get super sonic or fleet prep paired with grizzly.

Hcs 400 is there degreaser. they also carry the highly sought after 2 step gun which allows you to soap and rinse with high pressure. So basically the 2 step gun is upstreaming
Be careful with fleet prep. It contains Hydrofluoric acid.
Hf is my go to getter done clean job, but it has cons as well

For a normal 53’ trailer, you recommend SS/FP + Grizzly then. Got it! What ratios are you using for each? There have been so many thrown around!

I’m very worried about upstreaming because I don’t want to damage my pump. Or are you saying the gun is LIKE upstreaming because it does it for you?

The gun creates the pressure for you , so the chems never go through the pump, only problem is its heavy as haites and you gotta drag 3 lines around, 1 , 3/8 HP LINE AND 2 1/4" LINES. Its a bear imo. There’s pics of it on here.

Yea, I watched the video on it. Looks heavy af. Definitely going to have serious forearms and delts wielding that boy boy. Haha

Is it realistic to use that gun if you have to do a bunch of trucks considering arm fatigue?

Is for us , im at 25 minutes a truck and wash motor bay and dot wash
@GeorgeNicholson just bought one , ask him.

If we dont do engines or dot wash we can do it in 18 minutes 2 machines 3 washers.

They will tell you 20:1 across the board but they also have a expensive metering system you can purchase.
