Got an email from Sapp Bros this morning and they are interested in having me clean their fleet. From what I have seen is they have some day cabs, tanker trailers (polished aluminum), tanker trucks and some regular box trailers. I am not worried about any of the pieces except the tanker trailers. I have yet to deal with anything like this and I really don’t want to screw it up (as you all know I have been on the straight trucks and tanker trucks for the most part). How do I keep the shine without burning it? Should I get some different soap for these, currently using the Supersonic and Dynaclean. Should I have some Evershine and Prowash for these? Could I use a normal #2 for now and just brush until I get the Evershine/Prowash combo?
Gotta pic @GeorgeNicholson ? Some times there stainless, I think @pressureguy did or does some. If there stainless you’re good for the soaps you have,if it’s polished aluminum, you have to get citric acid as your #1 and pro wash for #2 step. If you use super sonic and dyna clean on polished aluminum, your gonna learn how to polish for free ,on a tanker. No fun man. Ps…that bug soaker you got is caustic as well. Not good for polished aluminum. Gotta get the SOP bug stuff like I got.
?
I responded to their email asking to walk their yard so we could get an idea of what exactly we would be cleaning (quantity) and to discuss frequency so I could give a good bid on the job. When I walk the yard I will get pictures of everything I will be cleaning so I can include that in the quote, seems like a lot of the owners appreciate the pictures for some reason. Once I get all that I’ll post here. Won’t be till next week though as we are heading out on a little vacation for the weekend for some much needed float time down the river.

“SOP” safe on polish. Both of these are. 1 is thicker cant dilute as much but sticks better for better dwell time. Go 1:1. The thin I haven’t tried yet. It’s there new stuff Chad sent us
I’ve used the Thin and it works wonders on bugs.
That’s odd. Chad said he gave you the caustic non SOP thin.
I did not know there were two different ones. Yea, I’m using the non SOP. I haven’t worried about aluminum as my fleets are all straight trucks and day cabs that don’t have polished aluminum
Lol. I swear it all windex, smells like ammonia.
Yea, don’t stand too close when applying that is for sure. We foam it on straight from the 5 gallon jug at 15:1. I’m a huge fan of it, bugs melt off
That’s what I’m trying to tell ya. You’ll fuzz polished aluminum with your stuff if it sits to long.
I’m gonna have a long chat with Chad before using anything on any aluminum to make sure its polish safe. Last thing I want is to pick your brain on how to polish a whole tanker…haha
Wait till you try hcs 400 degreaser at 20% as a bug remover. It’s 10 times faster. But again not safe on polish😕
I may get me some next time I order from Chad. Do you use that to degrease engine bays as well?
Dude. It will strip paint at 1:1. I use it to degrease inner chassis, engines, greasy shop floors,5th wheels, takes soot off exaust stacks, chrome, finished paint . You name it. It’s wicked stuff. I pm’ed you my order ,the cost is on there for a 55 drum. I’m testing it at 10 % this weekend on the front of a pete that’s polished, they want the whole truck stripped with hf for a repolish,so it be a good time for a test. Im gonna 2 step with it one day on occasion. Just gotta get my ratios right first.
I’m gonna try that hcs 400 on a job tonight, one of my regulars ran into some asphalt pre tack. He has it slung up on his sleeper, stacks and aluminum dump box. I’ll take before and afters and report back
@dperez where would I stick it to get a good reading?
@Hotshot @GeorgeNicholson i’m not sure if the ones I’m washing are stainless or polished but they were getting the “citrus wash” at blue beacon before I started. I can’t imagine that’s anything other than a citric acid pre-soak. I 2-step mine and they all look shinier than when I started. I will say that they didn’t clean up at all before I got the two step gun and switched to Supersonic. First time I tried washing them downstreaming with m37 and they hardly cleaned up at all. Been doing then monthly since Jan with no complaints after the first wash.
Lol @dperez, my wife has /had a 1 quart measuring cup. She’s been looking for it Goin on a year now.Its gonna hurt when she finds out its on my rig to measure out Diesel fuel supplement.
