That’s the battery I have. Works fine for my 5.5 GPM 12V setup. Hard to beat Costco warranty as well. Only problem is they run out of that one pretty often.
Everflo is alright. I only have experience with their low GPM unit with fresh water though. For chem, I’ve been using Remco. No issues so far.
24 or 27 will work DC, 5.5 gpm is one a lot of guys run the 7 gpm some like too just make sure make to use 5/8” or bigger hose. Costco only 1 year warranty on DC if I remember right. So…
I’m planning on running a 7gpm, do you think I would need a bigger battery? How long do you normally run the Remco for before needing a new one? Thank you for the reply
I’m planning on running a 7gpm. Have you used a 24 or 27 for a 7gpm or do you think a bigger one is needed? I am also planning on using at least a 5/8" hose, I know a lot of people say that its a lot to drag around but its also said that it will shoot further with a 5/8’ vs the 1/2" and there are a lot of tall houses by me so its worth it to me. Thank you for the reply.
Never used anything bigger, I think some guys on here have used the group 31 though. Might be good to look into that if it were me. Definitely use 5/8” hose you will be more efficient. Also good chance of burning out that pump quickly using 1/2” I would think, it would cycle often.
The 5.5’s work great with 1/2 hose, the 7gpm pumps aren’t going to blow your socks off with efficiency with any size hose, pretty similar in distance. If you plan on rinsing homes with a 12v pump you need to re evaluate the situation.
Don’t use a 5/8" hose with 12V. It actually hurts your distance, I think from the amount of fluid it’s having to push, you end up with less pressure at the nozzle. Have done extensive testing using 250’ of hose. May be different with shorter lengths. Also, if using mainly for roofs, don’t need a lot of flow.
I always heard that it gets further with the bigger hose but what you are saying makes a lot more sense, thank you. I’m going to use it to wash houses also, not rinse them but thought that the 7gpm would get the Chemicals on faster
You can see a difference on 200’ of 5/8” chemical hose and a 7 gpm, over 1/2”. Not sure over 200’ but I don’t go over that length anyways so I wouldn’t know. The 1/2” you will have friction loss, better flow on 5/8” for sure on 200’. Most suppliers recommend 200’ 5/8” for 7 gpm.
Most suppliers don’t use their products. I started out as a roof cleaner and my average roof is 12/12 pitch often having to reach 50ft to the peak. You can bet your ___ that I’ve used and tested every 12v configuration out there.
With a delavan 7gpm I get and average of 8 feet less distance with a 5/8 versus a 1/2". I even did a video of it, because I was surprised myself. I had to go to 5/8 with the gas operated machine because the 1/2 did reduce the flow on it to about 5gpm and caused too much misting at end of stream, irregardless of nozzle. I absolutely hate the 5/8 hose. It’s heavy, kinks more and a pain up on a 32’ ladder or a roof. If any way possible, I keep from using unless absolutely necessary. But I do get about 6’ -8’ more distance with it with the gas pump.
Made the jump from every flow 5.5 to the pressure tek 7. There is a noticeable difference in pressure and volume with it, not sure if it’s cause of the gpm or the upped psi on the pressure tek model but I like it a whole lot more
I’m not saying you can’t use 1/2” at all, that’s up to you as a consumer. I was just saying what I have experienced and noticed it seems to me you get better performance on 200’ with 5/8”. I know on one of the fatboys pump it has 3/4” ports I believe if I’m right. So that leads me to believe a bigger hose will help. But I do agree 5/8” wouldn’t be fun bringing up and down the ladder necessary. You have to weigh it all out I guess. Appreciate your feedback and experience in the field.
I’m torn on how to get a little more distance/volume out of my Fatboy bandit setup. I used it this season with a Proportioner with 1/2” internals… would feeding it with a 3/4” Proportioner help me with flow/distance slightly? I was planning on bumping up to 200’ of 5/8 Softwash hose to help but if it’s going to hurt my distance I’ll pass! I’m open to any ideas… may be I just need to buy a gas unit!
there’s only 3 things you can tinker with on a 12v pump, the number of 90’s in use, the Length of hose and size of hose. Anything after that is irrelevant for distance other than appropriate tips for the intended application. People ask a lot out of these 12v pumps, they fit in the palm of your hand and run off a battery, it is what it is with a 12v pump.
How far are you getting? measure so you know exactly. Get back to me.
Just hold it up about 20-30 deg and shoot across your yard. You should consistently be getting around 35’ maybe 40 on a good day with the proportioner. Increasing intake not going to help that much, if any.
