Hey everyone, my name is Austin and I’m trying to get started in the pressure washing business in Northern California. I’ve heard that this is the best place to get pressure washing information, and that you can learn anything you need to on here. Right now, I’m trying to do some research and kind of learn the processes of pressure washing and soft washing before I try to do it on my own house or other people’s houses—definitely don’t want to cause any damages. Anyways, I’m happy to be joining this community, and I’m looking forward to learning from it!
Welcome Austin….you’re right, a great place to learn. A wealth of information here, use that search button often, it’s amazing all you can find on the site. Much success on your startup!
Hi everyone,
Been reading as a guest on the site for a long time and decided that it as finally time to join properly.
Thank you to all of you for the information you have all provided over the years. It is such a valuable resource and you have saved people thousands of dollars in preventing errors.
I have finally taken the plunge and set up my own pressure cleaning business.
I am based in Australia. It would be great to connect with anyone else from this side of the world and find out your experiences in the industry, both good and bad.
Once again, thanks to all of you for everything you have done to help improve the standards and educate folk in this space, including myself.
Hello all, stumbled upon this forum via a reddit post. I’m a teen who recently became interested in getting into pressure washing in order to become financially free and reduce the burden on my parents. I’m in the midwest, and while I am new to the industry, I hope that through hard work and smart business I can become more experienced and have some success. I bought the Pressure Washing 101 Guide already, and am, open to any advice you guys have to an inexperienced young guy. Thank you!
Hi! My name is Brian and I’m considering starting a business in pressure washing. I found this forum from reading Heath’s (@TexasPressureWashing ) guide. I very much appreciate it accessibility and the writing style is the kind that only a career in the Navy leaves you with. Best one I’ve seen so far.
About me:
23 years active duty Navy.
The first 15 of them as an AME (Aviation Structural Mechanic - Egress Equiptmentman)
The last 8 as an NC, (Navy Career Counselor - Career Recruiting Force).
I am presently stationed at NSA Mid-South and work as the Senior Trainer / Senior Inspector of the Region West Training Team.
My background is strong in Mechanics, construction, renovation, concrete, electrical, plumbing, tile, roofing, HVAC and heavy equipment. My father has had his own side business doing commercial and residential work for more than 30 years, so I grew up doing this type of work.
I also have a strong background in Marketing and Analytics thanks to my current career field in recruiting.
I’m here on this forum to learn and decide if starting a business in this field is for me. Thanks for reading!
~Brian
Hi Sean, thanks for being here! Best of luck with your new business!
Welcome to the community! Wishing you nothing but success!
Welcome Brian! Thanks for being here!
Hi Everyone, I’m Landon. I have been reading on here for much longer than I have been a member (feels like I know some of you already) and figure it’s probably about time I introduce myself. I work for one of the pump companies (electric softwash pumps) so if I can help or answer anything feel free to ask away. On a personal note I’m just a regular guy that’s into building old cars and custom motorcycles, riding motorcycles, dirtbikes, 4x4, sxs, atv, etc… I have a mechanical type mind and really like seeing the different builds of some of your rigs and appreciate the vast knowledge shared on this site on soooo many topics. I’ll keep it short for now but just wanted to say hi and that I’m looking forward to getting to know some of you better and hopefully I can be of some help to someone along the way. I hope you all have a great day and thanks for reading
Hey all, looking to start a new PW biz in Missouri. My career has been 20 years in tech, but was laid off a few months ago. Things are really tough in tech right now with daily layoffs, can’t even score an interview. I need to do something other than sitting around collecting a pitance of unemployment. I love the idea of starting my own business as I have never done such a thing. It would be great life experience, and also couldn’t hurt on the resume to show I am a self starter.
I’ve spent probably around 20 hours reading here in the forum before signing up for an account and just want to say thanks to everyone for the bounty of knowledge. What brought me to PWing was a friend who just started his own business a month ago who has 2 other friends with successful businesses.
Personally, I’ve always gotten satisfaction from powerwashing with residential equipment, but have never used pro level stuff. There’s just something so satisfying about a job well done. I do enjoy working with my hands as well. Overall I am pretty handy and have dabbled in a bit of woodworking over the years, just no space for a shop now.
I’m going to tag along with my buddy on a job tomorrow just to get a feel for everything and equipment. He is running a 4.2 gpm predator. At this point, I need to figure our what equipment I would want. I typically like to buy once, cry once and appreciate equipment that makes life easier. An 8gpm rig sounds ideal and I could make my own trailer if it would be cost effective, but I am also thinking about 5.5 gpm. My work would be focused on residential at first, but I’d be open to commercial and would try to sell everywhere I can.
I don’t have anything set up yet, but was thinking of Mr. Shine Pro Wash as a name. A little longer than desired, but the pro wash felt necessary for service identification and the Mr. Shine portion feels good for branding, easy recognition, and memory recall. It also doesn’t appear to be trademarked. Not sure if it’s even worth worrying about name trademarks? Something with show me shine was the first thought since Missouri is the show me state, but there’s already a plethora of cleaning companies with that name play.
Just signed up. Didn’t know about this until today. I am super excited about this resource. I am starting up in Western Colorado. I have had many people complain about lack of services in my area. I have done some pressure washing privately using chemicals but never as a professional until now so please forgive me if I ask stupid questions. I am excited to start this chapter in my life and have spent months researching all I can about this industry. Did not have a lot of capital to start this venture so I am using a very basic setup but am finding ways to do complex jobs with what I have. I hope to meet up with others near me as well as afar where different techniques are used for different challenges than what I may face in my area. I am very analytical and strive to use ingenuity to overcome adversity. I am excited to be here and look forward to speak with any and all of you!!
Hey folks, I’m Mike Law, proud owner of EM Pressure Washing here in Palm Beach.
I’ve been in the exterior cleaning game for years, helping local businesses and homeowners keep their places looking sharp. From greasy dumpster pads to gum-covered sidewalks, my crew and I tackle it all with 4000-PSI hot-water rigs, bio-enzyme detergents, and a whole lot of elbow grease.
I’m here to swap ideas, share what’s worked for me, and learn from others doing great work in their own fields. If you’ve got a cleaning challenge, a cool project, or just want to talk shop—count me in!
Hey everyone, I’m Chandon, 25, and a Lieutenant in the Baltimore City Fire Department. I have spent my career in a high paced, high pressure environment and now I am channeling that same drive into starting my own residential pressure washing business, launching March 2026.
I am a proud dad of three which is a big part of why I am doing this. My goal is to escape the rat race, create something I can truly call my own, and build a business that will give my family the time, freedom, and opportunities we deserve. I will be focusing on house washing, gutter cleaning and restoration, driveways, and concrete cleaning, with a little car detailing on the side.
I am here to learn from those who have already been in the trenches of this industry, from tips on equipment and techniques to marketing and scaling. Looking forward to connecting, swapping stories, and sharing the journey with you all.
Hi, I’m Marvin, owner of TrueFix Property Solutions here in Texas. I have 20+ years in the trades, from large commercial restoration projects to coaching teams, and now I’m starting a new chapter focused on helping folks in my own community keep their properties looking their best.
I’m in the start-up phase of my business, with pressure washing and soft washing planned as core services. I’ll be carrying forward the same integrity, skill, and customer focus that have defined my career, and I’m here to learn from others that are already established and to be a blessing where I can. Still considering my build options so any input offered will be greatly appreciated. Seriously considering starting with an 8 GPM setup out the gate.
When I’m not working, you’ll probably find me outside with my family, tinkering with self-sufficiency projects, or talking business strategy.
Glad to be here, and I’m looking forward to connecting with you all.
Hey everyone,
I just signed up for this thread and hoping it is still pretty active. My name is Kevin, i just started a PW business in eastern PA after separating honorably from the Navy. I’d love to hear some recommendations on what chemicals/soaps you all have had luck with as well as some helpful tips since I’m kind of new to this world.
Any help would be appreciated!
