This is the type of bad advice we don’t need here.
First of all who do you think you are calling me a part timer you dont know me. Second my step mother has been cooking since 1991 and she dont do that well either. If you really have almost 30 years in this business and dont know how ox acid works you are lucky. I think it’s great you have made it this long I dont know how its possible but someone wins the lottery every day I guess. If you ever make it to VA look me up I will be happy to put you to work. Hell if you give me enough notice I will save a what you call rust job so you can see how you are supposed to do it. I tried to apologize and you just had to keep pushing. Why? I think what the real problem is is that you know what you are talking about but you cant put it into words. If you had just said make sure you rinse ox acid really well before you apply sh we would not be having this conversation but I guess I’m the one who cant make a informed answer as you put it.
Great info, got it now! Thanks for you for your input
Wow! This explanation broke it down & greatly helped me understand, not only for this job but sooo much more! Thank you for taking the time.
What about Gain dishwashing soap?! JKing!
Yes…curious about Gain actually.
On a side note I tried rolling ox on badly rust stained concrete, made it worse and darn near fried my lungs out. Should have worn a respirator.
Um, oxalic doesn’t fume. If you had fumes that wasn’t rust, or wasn’t ONLY rust.
Not a problem, happy to help. I created cleaners in a lab for 20 years. I know some weird stuff that is helpful on this site, but I rarely check it anymore. If you need some advice on a chemical thread just @ me like these guys did
Grrrrrrrrrr. Go ask Squid
You’ve been missing out on a lot of food talk…
Excellent info as always!
I especially like how you decided to dumb it down for us with cartoons so you knew we’d understand. You probably have two different folder for training videos. One labeled “Training Videos for Colleagues” and the other one “Training Videos for Children and PWRA Forum”…lol
Speaking of oxalic. Ive hit some rust spots on painted brick with it with no results…when i just got off the phone with rick he said he had the same problem today he hit some painted hardi board under a AC today with it 5 times with no results. Do we have some different rust down here or something? He normally uses F9 and said that toom it off quick…
Double bookmarked
Are you sure its rust and not a lime or iron deposit
Not sure about ricks problem but mine was just rust coming out of a cable box mounted on the side of the house. Didnt really inspect it that much had some ox from a deck i did the other day. I doubled the strength and hit it several times with no results.
Dunno, it was the Savogran Wood Bleach which is mostly oxalic. Awful stuff. Started the instant I mixed it with warm water per instructions. This stuff was severely toxic. It fumes badly and even states it in the MSDS sheet it can cause lung damage.
I dont think I can ship you some I would have to look into law about that I’m sure I cant but I will check
How are you guys mixing your oxalic? I had this rust stain yesterday and had some oxalic left over from the deck I’d just done. I rinsed it first since it was painted Hardie board and didn’t want to take a chance of it messing it up. Then hit with Ox 3 times with about 2 min in between. Drain vent from HVAC unit. Didn’t touch it. So I let it dry while working on drive and after it was dry, hit it 3 more times with the Ox and still didn’t touch it. So rinsed it again, walked to my trailer got some F9 and lightly sprayed it on and it was gone completely in like 2 min. My oxalic was 10oz per gal mixed well.
Oh no I mix 3/4 cup per gallon
Who sells f9 I want to try it
