King's Reels - Anyone got these?

I’ve seriously thought about doing my fence with it…I read somewhere if you get the dyed diesel and mix a little in, you can get a nice reddish color too

Do it, that fence will stain well as long as it isn’t newish pressure treated pine

Nope, 10 years old…freshly softwashed too

It’s prime time! Back when I was staining fences I stained more than a few that were 30 plus years old and they looked brand new because they kept hitting them every two years

I think Rick meant the staying power off the bolts holding the trex itself. I know the wood to metal screws will keep them down for years

I wouldn’t be worried about you or @Firefighter4hire doing it right. Anyone who can build a nice BBQ trailer can build anything. I’m thinking about the average yahoo who puts Trex down. I think it would make it tough to get everything where you wanted it unless you added braces all over the place. If you had you layout in mind when you built it, would work, but I’d for sure never build and sell one to someone with it already on there, not knowing how they might setup.

Heck William, with one oil change on your machines you’d have enough oil to put a couple of coats on a wood floor, Then you’d have a Honda treated floor. It’d sell like hotcakes.

Thank you sir. I’m very happy with the trex. I encourage my customers to buy trailers without the floor. Lay out your equipment on the floor first. I have been though so many rolls of tape since i opened the build shop. Everyone has their own way i guess. I didnt even open the door to the BBQ trailer last year. Between Home, FF4H,Reliable equipment,Zero water window/solar builds, Firehouse, and Hazmat team the year came and went.

When I was in my 20’s the old guys that I listened to would tell me things like don’t waste stuff, and things have more than one use. I know guys who crawl under their trucks every year and use the used motor oil to oil their trucks (we have road salt and it is corrosive). I use motor oil on my snow fence (wood slats in galv wire).

the biggest drawback I have is the smell. As a kid I worked at a gas/diesel/Home heating oil/propane place, I can’t ever smell it without flashing back.

This is my set up. I have Qty 4 of Kings reels 12 inch stainless steel manifold.

I have read through the comments but I have the following pros and cons.

Kings reel pros:

  1. light weight- 26 to 29 lbs each with PVC center
  2. Quality and good customer service
  3. Less expensive price
  4. T304 stacking kit is awesome
  5. Compact size

BTW- the kings reels will hold 150 feet of 3/4 inch flexzilla and 200 feet of 5/8 Hydrolic flex soft jet hose. This is way over their specified ratings according to sprayer depot.

Kings reel cons:

  1. Recall on stainless steel swivels due to leaking bearing recall- I can post a video if needed
  2. 90° connection into manifold is awkward and despite installing a 45° nipple, hoses still do not lat as flat as I would like putting stress on the hose connection into the reel.

Hannay reel pros:

  1. Better quality than kings reels- they are steel I believe and the bearings are better. The handles are built better. They’re just more solid
  2. Half-inch connection into the manifold on the reel, is a looped fitting, allowing the hose to lay flat while connected, if running through the real. On electric models anyway.

Hannay Cons:

  1. weight- they are probably double the weight of the kings reels.
  2. Cost- they are more expensive
  3. They are physically larger

Ah, very nice. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I’ve got four 18" King’s arriving on Monday. I, too, liked that they keep all the parts on hand and some of the parts are compatible with the Titan’s in case I ever needed something rush delivered and that’s all they had. After speaking with Joe at Sprayer Depot he informed me that they have since rectified the swivel leaking issue and that he’s confident the fix is permanent so that’s good.

Why would you not buy the Titans?

I’m still working on the trailer and waiting for signage at the moment. More to come when I finish. I’ll post a video for sure.

Those roll outs are on lazy Susan’s that allow me to rotate the reel stack as well.

They lock in place based on the direction I need for the job.

Sprayer Depot was great to work with. They sent me a replacement swivel in a week. No questions asked.

I went on Amazon and ended up ordering two additional regular steel swivels for my hose reels that handle water from the customers house. That way I can pull my stainless steel Kings reel ones and keep them in hand for the reels handing bleach through the manifold.

The reason I went with kings reels is for the weight and size. They were the only reels where I could fit four in that compact space.

Honestly, just to see how they are. They’re basically identical to the Titan’s and most of the parts are compatible. Biggest difference I saw was that they had a whole lot more King’s stuff in stock than they did Titan’s. Also, when Titan was like 8 months out for a reel they had King’s ready to ship.

That is pretty darn nifty! Though, I’m not sure why you would need to rotate the entire reel. If you use hose guides the reels could face any direction you wanted them to and the hose will go in any direction you pull it.

There may be a reason for that, but I’m curious o see how they hold up for you. Fortunately the Titans work well because they have no customer service, in my experience.

They seem to be very well made so far. I’ve got to finish up a few things on the trailer before they get mounted but I’ll put them to use here in a few days.

Has anyone tried the U-frame from either Bobs or Kings? Currently have 5 Hannays and 1 Kings 12" - and aside from the swivel on the King (which got shipped a replacement right away), it’s been a great real; I’m going to be replacing all the Hannays with either Kings or Bobs which seem to be very similar. The obvious difference from the regular to U-shape frame is the smaller footprint; but aside from that does anyone have any input on them? any cons to think about?

I’m personally not a fan of the U shaped ones. Just seems like less stability but also a bit smaller footprint so maybe you’d need that. I’m loving the King’s reels. Same issue with the swivels but they sent me four new ones and all is well. @Innocentbystander likes Bob’s reels so I’m sure they’re quality reels.

You can’t beat hannay for quality. They are the best hands down. Bob’s reel is good, especially if you are needing a narrow reel.
