get out of my head!
Wait until you have everything run, every fitting tested, then drive down the road and test your unit again. You will likely find some leaks. Just saying so you don’t punch a wall, mental preparation and all that. Make sure to take at least a 10 minute drive and hit some bumps, better now than when you go to a job and work on equipment at job site.
Yep. I ended up having some leaks still. One I can’t fix myself. The swivel hannay gave me was doa so they are mailing me another one.
100ft hose and a super swivel both dead on arrival. If my name isn’t lucky I don’t know what ![]()
where was the swivel leaking? Super swivel typically leaks a few drops, or even a thin stream for the first couple of minutes then get their act together.
Ok I finally started this thing and have some questions/insights.
Holy cow…this thing is loud. It kinda sounds rough.
I’m assuming the squealing is the chem injector sucking air.
@Innocentbystander it’s hard to see in video, but should the belts have this much play? I know you’re busy, but since you worked on the design of this specific setup, id love some information on checking belt tension and how to tighten if need be if possible. Idk if it would be easier to type up, make a video, or call me but I would be very appreciative for some help with maintaining the belts.
The bypass definitely kicks in and causes it to jump. Might be normal, might not be so just checking with you guys.
I was a little confused with flow as it didn’t seem like much but maybe I’m misremembering what the 4 can do. I didnt have rpms maxed though so that was per usual user error ![]()
Videos down below.
It was leaking through zerk fitting and then at main connection to reel as well. They said it sounded like it had an issue with something in there and after some talking to a few people in house they decided to send me a different one.
Get the slack out of those belts asap
You lucky dog! I want to live in that neighborhood! The weather, the trees. I could just walk down and fix your machine when you need help ehhh
zerk fitting leak will go away in a minute or two. Never ever grease them. It will destroy the swivel. 4 bolts hold the pump down. 9/16 wrench. barley loosen them then tighten the threaded rod with double nut. when you push down on the belts in the middle between the pulleys there should be about a 1/4 inch of slack. Probably a lot of vibrations traveling from NC to Alaska
I ran the pressure washer for about 10 or 15 minutes with my fuel cap on like you recommend and it didn’t die so I’ll count that as a win. The zerk fitting did continue to leak that whole time as well as the main connection point to the reel. I remember reading you saying not to grease them a long time ago and I didn’t touch it. The hannay guys asked me if I did and I told them no.
Is what I got for play in the belt.
I figured that was what that big rod was for. Any tips on securing the pump afterwards or does that rod pretty much hold everything in place a d then you tighten the 4 pump bolts any way you’d like?
Kinda cool eh @Innocentbystander ? From one end of the country all the way to the other! Was bummed it didn’t have the extra holes that would have proved your boy had made it!
If the pump gets a little wonky, out of line with the engine, sometimes you can loosen three bolts and tighten the threaded rod to swing the pump around straight. You don’t need to worry about that. just loosen 4 bolts slightly, they can still be a little snug. Back of the jam nut on the threaded rod, tighten nut. Lock in jam nut. Tighten 4 pump bolts. Done. I watched you push on that belt everywhere but where I wanted you to. facing the open side of the cage, put a finger on top of the top two belts and push down. quarter inch or so of slack is all you need.
Lol I felt like SpongeBob when he was dying of thirst at Sandy’s while watching you pushing on those belts in all the wrong spots
like come on man give me the satisfaction I crave!
Your injector sucking a boat load of air is why the flow seems less than impressive. Drop it in a bucket of water and you’ll see exactly what the flow will be like when you’re downstreaming. Always, always, always start your machine on the absolute lowest idle you can for the first start to help prime the pump. Like throttle lever all the way down and let it run like that for a minute until you’re certain it’s not sucking air in anywhere. Then idle it up.
My son is going to make you a video at work tomorrow. My day will consist of putting in a rebuilt transmission in my E350 truck/van el Camino rig. Oh joy
I didn’t see the jam nut you were talking about. It looks like it’s threaded right into this end piece right here. It’s a bit crooked but I DIDNT DO IT. It was like that already ![]()
That angle is so hard to get on my phone
. If that’s not tight enough it’s going to have to wait because it’s my last day before I’m gone for 2 weeks and I’m about to pick up pizza for the kiddos and have a movie night before I leave for work. I look forward to the video your son makes. Tell him thanks in advance.
I’d say we could swap places, but you might not be impressed with my transmission dropping skills. Luckily I have only done one of those in my life and that was enough hopefully.
That’s closer. IBS says 1/4" but I shoot for 1/4" to 1/2" and don’t sweat it. Enjoy the pizza and the kiddos amigo. Way more important than this junk.
I welded all those rods and plates one afternoon. Diego wanted 75 of them. The belts are right. The nuts that you tighten are on the other end of the pump. Why can’t you take a pic of what I want you to lol. I pulled the transmission today. Putting in the other one tomorrow. I’ll get you some pics first though.
You couldn’t find any flat bar that was thicker ![]()
