Hose reel mounting help

You must be a big guy. I’m 6’ 240lbs (it’s the off-season don’t judge) and my 13’ Vibe kayak is very stable with me on it. I can even stand up and fish if I’m in somewhat calm water. Best part about kayak fishing is hitting all the holes that the boat guys can’t get to. The fish are way less pressured.

That there is some mighty fresh water!

I think it’s hilarious seeing those Salt Life stickers on Jeeps and trucks around here. We’re like 10 solid hours from the nearest salt water lol

Even better, the kayakers are less pressured. Wake boats & ski boats stay out of the skinny waters, which is the best place to be. You can go for miles with nothing but a crank bait & a cooler.

Oh man don’t get me going on kayak fishing. I’m itching to get back out there. It’s cold as hell here and last night I was up late unpacking and planning my next float trip already. I’m thinking a 4 day/3 night trip across southwest Missouri and into Oklahoma at Grand Lake. Just need to work out how we’re going get back. I have some friends that own a campground on one of the rivers we’ll be on but I figure by the end of the trip we’ll be a solid 30 miles from their camp. If we do it before their busy season kicks off I think they’ll shuttle us to the put in and from the take out. Once they’re busy I’d have better luck hitchhiking lol

The local DOC has a jet boat so they can go pretty much anywhere my kayak can go but other than them it’s just me and some buddies most of the time. One of the rivers I float is a huge party river on the weekends but a ghost town during the week. Huge channel cats in there and some pretty decent smallies. Ton of brim and sunfish. A few good largemouth but nothing to write home about. The whole river in that section is a conservatory so gotta be 15" to keep. Which isn’t too hard most days.

my last catch

18in cat at clear lake, and a 37in bull red at surf side.

Haha, dude you are out there! Mad props sir. Either I’m too old or my bed is too comfy for all that. Not sure which. Lots of folks around here like to float the Clinch River. It’s a 43 mile stretch from Norris Dam to Melton Hill Dam but it can be cut short wherever… or it can take a few days. Trout in the beginning, bass in the middle & stripers all over the place. But either way, I can’t wait to get the ole kayak wet.

How do we know that’s not a toddler’s foot in the pic lol

It’s hard to have a bad time when you’re on the water. I just got my kayaks last year and after owning one for three days I was on a 28 mile float down the King’s River fishing the entire way. The bug bit me hard. I fished a ton growing up but hadn’t fished much in probably 8 years and the kayak reignited that passion. Just recently picked up a compound bow so between kayaking, fishing, golfing and now hunting I’m about tapped out on hobbies lol

As soon as I bought my first kayak, I felt like an idiot for not buying one years ago. No registration needed. No gas. No BUI (haha). It’s free to use as soon as you own it & will never cost another dime. Mine has 2 rod holders. I just toss a line off of each side & row at a comfortable pace until it yanks to one side or the other haha, fish on! I’ve owned boats & also grew up fishing but nothing comes closer to a lawn chair on the water. I can’t wait to get back out there & float around in the sun. Won’t be long my dude!

I don’t do much trolling on the yak unless I’m on the lake and I much prefer river and creek fishing these days. Too many speed boats on the lakes around here for my taste. I got my first kayak from Walmart (actually a pretty dang nice yak for the money, less than $500 new and it’s a SOT with a decent seat) and within a month I already had a second one lol

I’m with you. I should’ve gotten one years ago and never stopped fishing. My new yak is a Vibe SeaGhost 130 and I absolutely love it. Got some new goodies for it for Xmas too. My brother got me a yakattack anchor trolley system and one of those 360 light poles. I’ve got a fish finder that I need to get installed too but the kayaks are buried in the garage by a mountain of moving boxes right now. One nice thing is the property we bought has a decent spring fed pond on it so I’ll start stocking that thing this spring and maybe by this fall I won’t even have to leave the property to wet a line!

Nice! I’d love to have one of them fancy sit-on-tops but I’m stuck with a Trophy 126 in the meantime. It’s awesome for everything other than back comfort. Might hafta bust out the sawzall & install a bucket seat from the junkyard or something in the meantime. As long as it floats, I’m ready for some nice weather at this point.

Pretty much the exact opposite for me. Saltwater always seems more like drinking & hanging out until something happens. I always had fun, but I was too much of a drinker when I was drinking…always left exhausted not relaxed :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

So after alot of searching for equipment I have decided to get a trailer. Found a good deal on a set up that comes with pw, sc, buffer tank, tool box, and trailer.

What’s the details on it? You’re only 2 hours from me and I’m thinking of selling mine off, have been since I started the new job down here

5x10 trailer, water tank, DeWalt 4200 psi at 4 gpm, hose reel with 100 feet of hose, be sc, tool box, brush, 2k

Good for you! It’ll make you some money this season. Then you can buy mine next year

let’s not forget what was said about the direct drive pumps and a buffer tank!?

That’s insulting. Is that what you really think of us? lol
