Hose reel mounting help

Yes the budget is tight. I want to get started as soon as possible and I would rather be inconvenienced for a while and get good quality equipment instead of cheap equipment.

Shoulder cramp?

IDK, Iā€™m not trying to have guys do more work than necessaryā€¦

Check this out for a wood skid built for back of truckā€¦idk if that fits what your looking for but itā€™s an idea you can play with.

@GrimetoShinePW yes this is exactly what I am going for.

Iā€™d look for an aluminum skid then, unless youā€™re certain it will be very short term.

Cool cool glad I could be of some use:) good luck

Just my 2 cents: a year ago I was brand new with zero experience starting out on a tight budget just like youā€¦ spend your hose reel money on marketing or a website or just leave it in the bank. Hose reels are a luxury. Youā€™ll know when you need them & youā€™ll be able to afford them when you get there. Just buy your hoses in 50 foot sections & link them together as needed. 50 foot hoses are super quick & easy to roll up by hand.

Hahaaa!!! My dude, you need to get out of the office more often. Youā€™re more likely to throw your shoulder out checking the mailbox than rolling up a hose with a manual reel but I will say the trigger hand takes all of the abuse. When I wake up in the mornings, itā€™s impossible to make a fist with my right hand for a while. Itā€™s called trigger finger & Iā€™m sure lots of dudes on here are very familiar with it.

Get you a good Velcro strap. No ones exempt from the trigger finger syndrome

Killer advice dude! Greatly appreciated. I got the Suttner 1500 pass through gun to use with a ball valve on bigger jobs & itā€™s been great but this work is tough on the fingers no matter what. Even the left hand has the trigger finger from just dragging hose.

Itā€™s tough on the body no doubt. My knees from years of leaning on ladders are shot aswel, elbows getting a bit rusty also. Take it from me, mitigate all these things while your young and starting out, most of this wear and tear is stuck with you, the glitz and rewards seem less and less worth it every year.

You are correctā€¦I need the rest of this snow to melt off my boat so I can get these lights and emergency bilges installed, then do some fishing come springā€¦

THIS is the proper method of getting out of the office! What are you fishing for?

Personally, almost always bass fishing. I may entertain some other odds and ends if that isnā€™t any good, but Iā€™ll drag plastic worms over logs all day long as a means of therapy if nothing else :joy:

But itā€™s been years for meā€¦the little boat I got is almost rebuilt and ready for action (hopefully this spring).

Thatā€™s the spirit! I plan to get another boat one of these days but kayak fishing is hard to beat, especially from a therapeutic perspective. Definitely give it a try if you havenā€™t already.

Iā€™m a bit big for kayaks. Mine is a decked out 14ā€™ Jon boat. If I canā€™t get that up in there, then I donā€™t need to fish there

Haha, Roger that! Itā€™s a perfect time of year to find a nice fishing kayak for cheap on Marketplace. Youā€™ll love it if you find the right one but jon boats are awesome too. As long as you enjoy yourself at the end of the day, itā€™s all good. I hope you catch a whopper!

i donā€™t enjoy fresh water fishing at all. Salt Life all the way.

Sounds like fun other than the 8 hour drive. I canā€™t say Iā€™m not a little jealous but you can make the most of it when itā€™s all youā€™ve got!
