Well… at least it wasn’t pointed at a window
There must be a couple different kinds. I have a gallon of one that only has Diethylene glycol monobutyl ether. Maybe it’s just not listed in the ingredients. Before I washed Buffalo Wild Wings I picked some up that had hydroxide in it to have just in case I needed it. The Purple Power concrete and driveway has hydroxide listed in the ingredients. I ended up getting a brand called Super Clean that had it listed.
No kidding. It was at the end of a super long and hot day so I was pissed but it could’ve been worse. Muzzle awareness applies to powerwashing the same as firearms. Always point in a safe direction.
The original is made about a mile from my house.
I don’t know much about Purple Power. I was just going off of what’s listed on the ingredients on the gallon I have. Maybe they can sell us watered down stuff here since we can’t drive down the road and molotov cocktail them. ![]()
Here’s what the bottle looks like that I have.
Its a year old thread but I’m very interested in learning more about the brown stuff and using hot water on a house wash. I assume it’s not very hot water at all, probably just warm but I know warm/ hot water is better for cleaning most things. But also the brown stuff neutralizes SH in 4 hours ? So I assume it’s mixed before every job in a fiver. It’s a caustic so I’m already questioning using hydroxide on an entire house as I’ve heard horror stories but I’m very interested since you seem to be doing it with great results!
Not familiar with the brown stuff but on real dirty houses I use warm water, 105-115. It helps break down the organic matter when rinsing better than cold. Think about it, do most wash dishes in cold water? Warm water helps I think. Like I said, I use it on the bad ones, around this area we can run into really bad houses covered with organic matter. That’s why I love having heat available to use even in residential settings.
O yeah. I’m not knocking heat, obviously you wouldn’t use 300 on a house but 100-120 is the same temp I wash my dishes with lol. Works lots better than cold water.
I am curious about the hydroxide or brown stuff in house mix. I’ve heard bad things about hydroxide in a hw mix but I’m not set into a mindset yet
Vinyl manufacturers recommend a little soap and water to clean. If organics are present then bleach, no mention of any other chemicals. I’ve never used hydroxide on houses, my normal HW mix has always did the job. Not saying you couldn’t use it though…
We’ll see if @Firefighter4hire decides to chime in on it
@DJPWS DJPWS What do you want to know
Brown stuff. Heard degreasers aren’t good to use in house washes. What’s been your experience with it?
I wouldn’t wash a house without it
So you’re using slo mo and brown stuff in your hw mix?
And a few other goodies
What differences have you noticed using it versus not?
Glossy windows, melts insect nest, neutralize sh, gutters come clean with scrubbing. Removes oxidation
@CaCO3Girl I can’t find an SDS, but this product claims to be a “heavy-duty cleaner that serves as a degreaser, stain remover and when mixed with bleach, a house wash/ house cleaner. The Brown Stuff also can be used to clean trucks and get rid of brake dust and soap scum.” And "The Brown Stuff residential wash neutralizes bleach to help protect nearby vegetation. ".
So, it’s a house washing and truck washing soap that also neutralizes bleach, but not until some time after. Any insight into what this could contain, and if the claims can be legit?
Curious on the neutralizing part. I’m assuming you add it to the mix in a fiver before the job so doesn’t neutralize your tank correct?
Yes add it to my batch will neutralize sh in 4 hours. Look guys all I can tell is that it works… @CaCO3Girl has the sds sheet on it I sent it to her over a year ago.
