Very nice @DisplacedTexan did you use oxalic on this one?
So theoretically if it was full strength then at least 6%.
No. Just SH and a splash of surfactant.
Maybe. I’d guess somewhere between 2 and 3 percent after dilution. Who knows
Ok so we have dilution…ratio?
Couldn’t even begin to tell you. That was over a month ago with nearly five month old SH that had been mixed with surfactant immediately after purchase. If I had to guess I probably mixed it up 50 50 in my pump sprayer. Then again, could’ve been 60-40. Or 70-30. Or 65-35. Or 68-32. Who knows.
Why does that baby look 40 years old?
When you become a pro like @DisplacedTexan percentages and ratios just don’t matter.
He waves his magic wand over the wood and voila! The wood is restored.
He truly is a wizard!
Looks like @Infinity needs to update his moniker!
Man, I wish. That would be great lol
Was that a spray and garden hose rinse job or did you use <1000 psi to rinse and push the crud off?
No there is definitely pressure involved. I wish it was that easy though! I’d probably strictly clean decks if that were the case.
@dcbrock The shadow box fence was done with about a pump sprayer hw mix and then around 1000psi-1200 I can remember. The deck was 1.2% sh hwmix dwell 10min then rinsed with j-rod and then ox 10min or so and then rinse again. I personally wasnt thrilled.
They look good @PWP5gpm you have to remember what kind of wood your working with, you can’t always get that stained teak look on every wood job.
Appreciate it. Wood is not my favorite but it’s money on the table and just a skill I will acquire. Would you do me a favor and check out this post. I really want to tackle this job I work here and have the opportunity to quote it tomorrow. SH and Lg industrial gas tanks
Thanks again!
You did a good job of keeping that support post from changing color.
I bought some pure sodium percarbonate and mixed 1 cup per gallon of hot water. Wet fence, let dry a bit, sprayed thoroughly and waited 15 minutes.
Bottom line, it didn’t do a darn thing.
Now this is my fence and wanted to do a test before attempting my customer’s 450’. The cleaner part was using a 2510 nozzle but I had to get right up on the wood and frankly I’m not about to pressure clean that much wood, it would take days.
What’s next, trying 3% bleach and citric/vinegar post treat? I’m fabricating a 12v cart next week so I’ll have more options for applying chems.
Y’all got to quit wetting wood before you clean it. Spray potash on a dry fence, rinse fence. Done.
What do you like to like to use instead of sh,im new to wood cleaning
I’m just following what pretty much every wood expert is saying to do, will look into metasilicate.
William, are you sure it’s potash aka potassium carbonate you’re using for fence cleaning? Looks like it’s primarily used for plant growth and glass making.
