Brilliant. On my aquarium forum, they have one called “Getting Started”. That would make a ton of sense for this forum as well.

Basically we find some threads that answer basic questioms and pin them to the top of the board. Or if anyone was willing to write some up that would be ideal.

I like the idea of a “Basics” tag, but sticking it all to the top I think migh dilute the new stuff

Agreed! This forum really needs stickies. They are posts that the moderators have deemed highly valuable, and they stay at the top of each catergory.
This would cut down on the common complaints from people not searching. If the most common and highly rated threads stay at the top, they are easier to find.
