XJET M5 Nothing But Love for this

You’ll get the same distance using the M5 and you do on your jrod. Probably more on your jrod from my experience. He’s referring to using the x-jet which leads me to think he doesn’t know what downstreaming is.

Depends on the orifice in the xjet. Too small for the machine’s gpm and it mists everywhere. Too big and it won’t draw worth a flip.

@ShinedUP do the modification so you can slap your jrod on there. I bought the 8gpm+ Xjet M5 and it’s less than ideal. Seems to be a 50 orifice and doesn’t work well for me. Using the M5DS (7-12gpm) works much better in my experience than the stock M5. You can see by the rust on the stock M5 that it doesn’t get used anymore.
@dcbrock I don’t use an orifice, just run the Xjet open and adjust mix as necessary, works fine.

Are you able to pull stronger chems with the mod? I prefer jrod over xjet but if I could get a stronger mix then will modify

The modification does nothing to the function of the Xjet, just allows use of different tips. And the short pipe may help with spray pattern, I can’t remember as I hardly Xjet anymore. I DS all day, every day with the M5DS and the shooter tip, only Xjet if I have to.

You still have to carry a bucket around the house and worry about knocking it over. The great thing about the x-jet is you can make a strong mix when needed whether it’s 6%, 4%, 3%,1%, etc. as stated run it open with no proportioner and adjust the mix to get different ratios. The mod I’m sure cuts down on pressure and mist. But I couldn’t regularly x-jet houses or I would just quit.

If you’re talking about soft washing houses do you know you can soft wash with your pressure washer? Almost every previous xjet user who has switched to down streaming siding wish they would’ve years ago. The heck with dragging a bucket of mix around. Leave that at the truck and down stream. You can still use the M5 ds for down streaming if you like the spray pattern. I prefer jrod with soap nozzles and shooter tip though. You won’t find too many guys here who use the x-jet for house washing. They might pull it out if they need a stronger mix for something like stucco and don’t have a 12v.

I 100% agree. The first 2 houses I ever did was with the Xjet M5 and I said never again. @Racer got me on the M5DS and i use that exclusively unless I need the shooter tip or a little more pressure from a 2520 on the jrod.

Roger that.

How is it able to draw soap without the restriction? If that’s the case I’ll remove mine as it just mists like crazy.

He’s referring to the plastic proportioners that come with it. I still have a feeling you didn’t modify it correctly

@dcbrock Yeah @Max1 is correct I think I worded it incorrectly. I run it without the plastic proportioner tip that fits in the hose barb. I’ll have to hook it up one day as I can’t remember if I got better results with a wand before or after the proportioning part of the Xjet. For me most times my 12v pump is easier to use unless I need a huge volume of mix. That’s about the only positive thing for me about the Xjet.

Oh I gotcha…thought you meant the metal orifice inside.

I just never liked the xjet, or the m5 tip. I have 2 different sizes one for 4gpm and one for 7, it’s a crappy design, the water hits the blades even with it all the way open on both of them. Causes it to spray and mist everywhere. I’m not gonna modify it, I just don’t use it. Every so often I’ll ise it when post treating concrete so I can use the fan then real quick go to a somewhat straight stream to reach into a corner or something. I downstream 90% or the time and use the 12V if I need something stronger. Carrying a bucket around just seems silly when I have this much invested in equipment

I’ve had to bend the blades out a bit before to reduce misting but I understand your preference for the jrod. The last time I used the Xjet was on a 3 story stucco wall on a church probably 100 feet long and that was months ago. I connected an extra 30 feet of hose a long time ago so I only had to move the bucket once or twice but still a pain.

Ok will someone please get the crayons out and explain something to me…can I take my XJETM5 and remove the “nozzle” or “tip” or whatever you want to call it, and pair the suction part of it with a different tip? Like maybe the soap tip on my jrod while still getting the same hot mix that the xjet provides? Will I need any kind of adapter or kit? I don’t have a 12 volt and my xjet mists really bad so I can’t shoot high up. I’ve tried researching this and I must be too dense to figure it out.

So just to clarify, the picture that’s up in this thread a bit that shows the suction part of the XJET followed by a short lance, followed by the jrod, would that pull the same chem strength as compared to using the XJETM5 without modifications?
My M5 mists REALLY bad. I wonder if I need to open the fins a bit like someone suggested, or maybe get the next size up. I got the one they recommended for my GPM.

Correct. The lance will actually help with the misting quite a bit. Do what is pictured above or do what I did in the thread and see for yourself. You’ll also be able to use your jrod. What’s after the injector won’t affect the chemical you pull.

@Max1 did a nice job of explaining the mod in his thread. I chose to put a QC on the suction part because I like to be able to put different length wands on in case I need more distance without having to daisy chain them. I encourage you to do the mod and try the jrod on it.
