Work Shoes

The last two I’ve tried were Keen. Both had the waterproof line and the last was their Newport with that great toe wrap around and the razor sniped sole for grip. both were very comfortable and grippy for a shoe but the chems (mostly house wash) eventually ate through the threads and they leaked after 4 to 6 months. Way to pricey for that kind of life. My next shoe is going to be the Frogz mid length rubber boot.

That is one of the bad part about working with SH, it will eat most fibers if you get it on you.

Anyone have any experience with LaCrosse® SPOG 12" Rubber Boots? They claim they are chemical resistant.

I’ve always had good luck with Lacrosse boots for hunting. Have had a pair of their rubber boots for out in the swamps. Pretty comfy and kept the feet dry. As far as chemical resistance… most rubber boots are until you start getting into really hardcore chems.

Im trying the Spogs next. The Mucks slip on my heel too much and become really painful If you have to do a lot of walking.

I like the idea of rubber boots but I need ankle support so a good pair of work boots are my go to. Last pair were Carolinas and they went 8 months without a drop of water getting through

be careful which shoes you get.
Not sure of the best way to warn ya because the shoes felt ok at the store, but after a week of wearing them, my heels began KILLING me.
I got a better pair short after, but now if I stand for too long they still occasionally bother me.

They don’t make souls like they used to. When I buy shoes now I immediately put gel inserts in. No problems here

good idea.
I did just turn 25 so maybe that’s about the age where your body starts showing wear and tear.
I did grow up doing country boy work

I think you still have about 5-6 years till you get there.

that really depends on how you treat your body, their are plenty of guys 60 years old running marathons I doubt they would have a issue running a washer all day. But I would suggest that you start now saving for retirement, every month no matter what by the time your 45 you will be set if done correctly. MOst important thing anyone can do is save every month IMO

boy, wouldn’t that be nice

I really enjoy Timberland work boots. Not the most waterproof but for light cleaning they work well.

yea those are my favorite, I wish they wood stay water proof, they are comfy

just revisiting this thread because i was looking at muck boots today. i’m about to do A LOT more pressure washing then i ever have so i was looking for something burly and waterproof.

imho, if you are going to buy work boots, red wings are the only way to go. i have some waterproof (i think their version of gore tex is called “RW dry” or something) ones that are about six years old and they still look like new. they are heavy, and hot in the summer, but still totally waterproof and rock solid. red wings make timberlands look like hospital socks.

I picked up a pair of low cut mucks because of this thread. Thanks to all who recommended. They are great. Waterproof, lightweight, and comfortable.

I think I’m about to pull the trigger on these. They look like they have great grip like restaurant style shoes and all rubber but with the fit of a hiking boot. I feel like I’m swimming in my mucks…I really want something fitted and will not be destroyed by SH. Crossing my fingers on these.

Before you do, check out shoesforcrews.com. They have great reviews and their prices are pretty awesome. I’m getting ready to buy some from them soon.

I wore some shoesforcrews shoes for a season. If you step in dog crap, the funny non-slip grip they have will dice it into tiny little pieces which will all fall out into your vehicle when it dries. Either that or you can spend 15 minutes picking out the pieces with a toothpick. For that reason alone I swore I’d never buy what are otherwise good shoes, ever again. It’s that annoying.

LOL. That happens a lot too, doesn’t it…at least they grip well, right? Or would you say the grip is “crappy”?
