Went and looked at this job. Putting a price together. Its a monster. Slowly getting ready for spring.
@Jake_Lambert Thats a great project, and a nice chunk of wood to do it with!
A few years ago my Dad passed away in early December, just as the season was ending. To keep myself sane over the winter, I went on FB Marketplace and bought a blue Squier strat for $50, refinished it, replaced the hardware and turned it into a SuperStrat.
The thing plays like a dream!
@Jake_Lambert If you like Les Pauls, here’s me with Jimmy Page’s 13 years ago.
One of my clients just won his mansion back in a divorce battle. The only thing in the house was a picture of Jimmy on the kitchen counter, so I asked him about it. He said he and Jimmy were good friends ever since he won his guitar at an auction.
I’m thinking this guy is full of it, but a couple hours later there’s a guitar case on the same kitchen counter. He pulls it out, shows me the cert of authenticity and asks me if I wanted to play it. HELL YEAH I DO!
So, this guy couldn’t actually play guitar. Jimmy had downtuned the strings to keep the guitar from warping on the flight back to the States. I, nervously, tuned it up. Who knows what the cost of popping a high E string would be if I did.
Then I played The Forbidden Riff on the Les Paul that the Forbidden Riff was originally recoded on lol
they needed those skate training helpers when I learned to skate…
Hope you raise a left winger and not a defenseman
You are making memories for yourself, because one day they will get older and leave. It is the way of things.
How was it constructed? Most of the homes around here are double plank, but mine was framed. German farmers built it in the late 1800’s.
I finally opened up my box truck and looked inside today. I need to go through it all and refresh and clean everything. Started up the rig and pressure washer and both were purring.
My toys battery was dead so I’ll have to give her a jump and realize that apparently I can’t let it sit for 3 months without a tender plugged in. That’s what I’ll be working on.
Awesome garage! Got a carbon monoxide detector in there i presume?
Doubtful . It’s a boat condo I rent half of, so I just opened the large bay door out of frame of picture, turned off the heat, and ran everything for 20 minutes or so while no one was inside and I was in other storage unit across from it dinking around with the bmw.
BMWs ECUs are always doing something, you can’t let it sit for weeks without a tender. Mine is now 8 years old on the original battery. Anytime i know I’m not driving it for even 4 or 5 days, the tender is on it.
The storage unit I’m using currently has bad electrical so nothing can be plugged in at all
Will figure out a different solution after this winter. In a perfect world, I’ll own my own boat condo. I’ll add that to the list right after New Toyota sienna for the family, paying off my work truck, debt, etc
I was hoping I’d be at 0 by this summer, but you know how that goes. This year should be able 5o wipe it out barring anything catastrophic.
Its literally solid wood from stone foundation to the roof line. Imagine rough cut 2 x 6’s stacked horizontally the entire way. Ton of lumber was used to build it.
was any of it salvageable? Once you remove the nails, plane it and run it through a table saw, that wood is pretty. I managed to salvage some planks, those rings were tight.
Hope you got all your work done. We had miserable weather on the mountain the last couple of days. That snow came down fast and was drifting. The rain melted a lot off, but I was about pooping myself when the storm hit with the high winds and making ice. 20 miles away got barely anything but rain so maybe you were spared.
I replaced all the old siding. Not quite finished due to the weather. The old siding was a pain to tear off and most of it split or cracked in some way. I am replacing with James Hardie. Very happy with how it is installing. I wrapped with Low-E and went right over the old 2 x6’s. Trimmed corners and windows with Versatech.
Hopefully it dries out soon around here. I’ve been at a stand still pretty much all of december due to rain or snow. Now it is 10 degrees outside!
I bet your house gets a lot warmer when you are all done. Lotta work there.
I feel you. Didn’t put a hat on today to scrape down the drive after plowing and shoveling yesterday. I had to run inside after about 15 minutes, ears were freezing from the cold and wind chill. We haven’t had a PA winter in awhile, think I got spoiled.
What part of pa are you at?
