My dad and I were talking back in December and he was daydreaming about how he’d always wanted a blonde telecaster but couldn’t afford one when he was younger. I got my hands on some local Ash, so Pops will have a surprise this Father’s day!
Thanks! It’s got about 30 coats of lacquer on it because I spray thin and sand often. The finishing process took 90% of the build time I think. And it’s far from perfect, but it’s good enough to goof around on
It only plays as well as I do lol. Turns out that building a guitar doesn’t magically make you better at playing one But it stays in tune and the harmonics are right
Getting a jump start on some winter projects around the house. Took this slab of red cedar and chipped all the bark/loose debris from the voids then sanded it down and filled the voids with putty and then a good heavy coat of espresso stain. Finished it off with a few light coats of wax paste. Had to drill into the fireplace to epoxy in some anchors. Then I whipped up a trim piece to go underneath to blend the transition to the stone. I think it turned out pretty well. I need to make another one for the identical fireplace in the basement but that’s gonna be a bit.
This off-season’s to-do list is longer than Santa’s naughty list. We’ve got all kinds of projects and so little time. Need to get the nursery put together and walls painted for our baby due in April.
Life is good, y’all. Make sure to enjoy it. Spend a little extra time with family this holiday season. Soak it up while you can.
I have been fighting with my boiler something fierce this winter. Swapped out a few parts and we’ll see how it holds up. Prv valve, air vent, and expansion tank was full of water so replaced that too.
The missus is pretty preggo with number 3 and installing french doors to fix our butt ugly doors with atrocious broken seals has been on the back burner but that has been fixed too. Changed out 2 more doors as well so mama is happy. As long as that darn boiler holds up.
I have some stuff to do on the work truck but I’m going to be honest, I have been so burned out I want nothing to do with it at this moment. The good thing is I have until March-may for snow to be gone so still have some time there.
Been into golf carts the past few years. I’ve built up a few for myself, but also flipping several. This white one is the current winter project that I actually just finished up this past week, so I’ll be looking for more for the rest of winter. The blue one is the one I did recently for my personal cart. A buddy of mine and I get them from second hand off a golf course cheap, tear them down and build up with new parts. They are easy and fun to work on, plus you make some serious money on them.
Before and after pics of the latest. This one I actually bought off someone local who just didn’t take care of it.
Nice work - I didn’t know golf carts could go that fast! We have a riding floor scrubber that we use for some tricky projects; can the batteries be rejuvenated at all? My research has turned up conflicting results.
Stock 48v carts do 13. You can have a dealer unlock freedom mode that gets you 17.5. I have a buddy with a tuner chip to unlock 25mph with increased acceleration. With that and my 22" tires I GPS’d it at 32. He had an aftermarket controller on his cart that let’s you really crank up the acceleration and his will pull a wheelie!
As for the batteries. I have a charger with a recondition function that actually does work. I had a battery that was 10v and not stay charged. Ran that on it for 24 hours and it worked great. Tested it several times back in the cart and it held charge the same as the new batteries.
