What type of boots do you wear

This thread prompted the purchase of my first pair of muck boots. The only weakness I’ve found them to have is freshly mopped McDonald’s floors. Hows winter in these things going to be.

That’s actually your heart shooting blood to your legs in an attempt to get you to run the hell out of a McDonald’s. Lol

I’ve read review after review of people who think these boots in winter are the cat’s pajamas. Bee’s knees if that’s unrelatable.

I get cold feet… a liner and wool sock do a huge job for me, but i have a pair like the ones posted above, which are flatter soles and thinner boots… also have the wetland model (i believe), and are MUCH warmer and 100% more comfortable to walk long distances in due to more substantial sole/support

I wear a pair of quilted bedroom slippers when hunting. My feet get cold

When I found out how magical merino wool socks were I threw out every other pair. Costco has a tower of merino wool socks year round. I’d rather set myself on fire than go into costco (walmart even less) more than once annually, but Emma works there so she’s my sock purchasing operative. Great socks though.

You’re joking… under boots at least? Or legit just strolling through the woods with night shoes on?

@squidskc Yea I’m really happy with mine. Like wearing a pair of shoes. I have a thicker pair for when it gets a Lil colder but no colder then it is now I’ll be wearing mine like that this weekend when I head down still in the 60s here

Iv went to stand a few times in bedroom slippers and got eat up with chiggers won’t do that ever again

It won’t be too bad the next week here, but past thanksgiving it’s usually in the 20’s. Our deer season lasts until January 15th and we can get a single digit day or two. I’m really looking forward to seeing how well these muck boots keep my feet warm. The Irish setters I had were awful.

Totally agree… sweat with crappy socks, but with liner and wool it helps.

I got a pair of merino base layer bottoms on sale to try… after drinking the Kool-Aid i will wear no other base layers. Still want buy full price, but worth the extra money for sure

Ouch, single digits would be tough… here in Va we are happy to wear more than t-shirts at beginning of season, but it gets chilly and normally 30-40s before we are done with some colder from year to year.

Here’s what my week and weekend is looking like.

I park under my stands and and climb the ladder wearing them unless it rainy. Then i just change when i get up there

This is a great work shoe, especially if you don’t like to mess with laces: Order online or the Matco Tool guy should have them.

Heard people talk about merino wool for a while, just ordered some to try them out. I’m not a costco member, but you can buy them online for like a 5% fee – $18 with free shipping for 6 pairs. According to the internets, it’s about the best bang for the buck on wool socks.

People say there are better wool socks than these, but you’re jumping up to around $10 a pair or more. These Costco ones have overall great reviews… although it looks like they change manufacturers from time to time, so there may be some variance in quality.

Mucks

The extra money is worth it… watch out for those blended “Merino” products, some dont even come close to comparing. For that cheap its certainly worth trying though.

Yeah these are 72% Merino, 27% Nylon, 1% Spandex.

I might pick up a 100% pair eventually, just to see what they are like. Amazon has some for $20. Then there are some 80% blends, too. From brief reading, it seems like the 100% might not hold it’s shape as well as the blends… so might be a bit of a trade-off.

Any of them should be better than the 10 pairs for $8 bags i’ve been getting at walmart, though, hah.

A little off topic but that never wet is amazing. Did y’all watch their video. Impressive.

My hunting socks will lose shape, but wash and dry and they are fine. They are pure Wool.
