What do you guys do during the winter?

I’ve looked into the wfp but never invested. I just scrub with my applicator, squeegee, and detail with a microfiber. To be really profitable you need to know how to be quick without really thinking about it, comes with time. It can be almost therapeutic haha

Deer hunt.

as much as i love hunting… dont you guys miss having an income? lol

Office and House Cleaning. Commercial Restroom cleaning. Custom Dry Vapor Steam Cleaning.

This is something i looked largely into and have considered but have no idea how to get the accounts. Interior cleaning of state building/other businesses

I’ve never done State or Government cleaning. The office cleaning game can take some time to get rolling. There are a lot of companies out there paying their workers $8-$10 an hour. Weed out the offices that are looking for these types of cleaning companies. Eventually you will find offices that put quality above cost. I pay several dollars more per hour than the other cleaning companies, but I also charge more. Just today I got a signed contract for a corporate office that wants Quality First.
I’m figuring on hiring 2 people to do this job twice per week for 7 hours per day. Contract is for $37,000.00/yr. It’s not huge money, but its a great residual income source. Be prepared to spend several thousand dollars on vacuums and supplies.

If your looking for something to do yourself, a Dry Vapor Steam Cleaner and some cleaning supplies will open some doors without competition. The steamer is also an awesome way to clean interior windows, frames and tracks.

Three years ago, I was @ $13 double hung in/out, when I was doing residential and was gettting jobs. Now, it would be up to about 15 or 16.

Your pricing was at about 7. I would think you could get more. There is only one way to find out…

But in winter, I am doing storefronts. How severe are your winters?

You could get into ice dam removal.

we are based out of NY… so it can vary depending on the year. 2 years ago we got no snow and was 63 on christmas. This past winter it snowed every week almost and was extremely bitter cold

Nearly all of my work comes from Google Business. I put together a simple website and signed up with Google Business. Set it up and then Google will require you to Verify your business by sending you a letter to your business address with a verification number. Within a short time after that you will be included on Google Maps and Business listing. The goal now is to get at least 5 Google reviews preferably with 5 star ratings. This will push your listing towards the top. Over 50% of the people that go to Google and type in “Office Cleaning” that see my listing with 5 star reviews don’t even go to my website, they just call and request a cleaning bid. Bidding will be your largest challenge. Without experience, it’s really hard to know how long a job will take. Fortunately my first handful of jobs were very small offices and I got the experience to bid by working these small ones. If you know a business or factory owner, see if they will give you a shot.

google business huh? Is that essentially the same thing as having coding a website? I pay my web hoster to code my keywords in obviously. but it costs me a ton!

Two totally different things… both important, but Google My Business is your map listing, reviews, where you can add pics to what shows up when people google you.

yep just looked it up and started playing with it! Put pressure washing as my main categorie then things like gutter cleaning, commercial cleaning etc as sub categories… i think we already have this set up through our internet company though as we already have reviews and such on google

If you have Google reviews, your already set up. Be careful, don’t duplicate.

Snow removal. I’ve got a Honda 928 track drive, and a little 16" Toro powerlite for decks and pathways. But depending on your route and local snowfall, you can get away with just single stage machines (we did for the first few years, but it was a lot of work for our area).

We focus on small residential driveways and walkways, where plow guys don’t want to go. We also have two small commercial properties that we clear out. I also clear some roofs, mostly with my custom 40’ carbon/aluminum roof rake (using the lower 4 secfions of my WFP :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:). Few winters ago I made bank on ice dam removal.

We’re looking at one more winter of pay-as-you-go service, and after that requiring pre-payment for all contracts. That way we have guaranteed income. We got hit with that same snowless winter two years ago. But this past winter was pretty decent :sunglasses:

Travel I hate the midwest with a passion I belong north but my wife thinks otherwise haha. Winter vacations are the best in my opinion I love the cold.

This is my first year in the biz but I’m going to push hard for gutters and store front cleaning. This will be used as filler work just to pay for my marketing cost so I stay seen during the off season.
