128 ounces in a gal.
To get pretty close to 3% in a 2gal pump you would do
256 x .25 = 64 ounces of 12.5% to 192 ounces of H20
Welp…after my 3% mix did nothing, I hit it with straight SH and a splash of Elemonator and it did virtually nothing. After pics attached…any ideas? Pump sprayer the SH, dwell for 10min and rinsed with surface cleaner and then my low soap tip.
Use Acid
Muriatic? On the limestone and flag stone?
Dont worry so much about having exact percentages with SH ratios. Just throw in a little SH and water and go, your making it to hard on your self.
The first picture posted, the black is probably just the natural color of the stone, The second picture, i would hit it again with SH. Stone takes longer and a lot of times multiple applications of SH. I try to avoid using acid in general as it starts become more of a restoration job which would needs to be charged accordingly.
I pre wet everything, is that the correct practice?
Don’t do that
@Innocentbystander don’t pre wet?
Pre wetting just dilutes your SH concentration even more.
Looks good to me
Don’t prewet but definitely don’t use acid
True.
Use acid next time, just use your PPE, learn how to you will get great results.
Did you upsell the sealant?
Please don’t use muriatic acid on soapstone or flagstone if they is no rust. Even then, not muriatic.
She’s interested. I’ve never done it, In fact this is just my second time pressure washing anything.
I know everyone says don’t let the solution dry on vinyl, but what about brick and stone? Does it matter how long it sits on it for?
It stops working when it dries. I have done a few houses with limestone facades that are the same as this little wall. 12.5% SH with some surfactant will turn the mold brown but it doesn’t dissolve like you see where the guys are doing vinyl. It usually takes pressure to get it off. Limestone is soft (not as soft as flagstone) and very porous so the color from the mold runs deep into it.
Thanks for that. I hit it with my low soap tip, which is about 300psi I believe, I’d have to double check. What sort of pressure would you recommend not exceeding with lime stone?
Find an inconspicuous spot and make sure you are not cutting the stone and always make sure the mortar is in good shape. I have never had to use more than my 40 degree tip (white). BTW, my company name is Sure Shot Stain and Seal…lol
good name! Now I know who to talk to about sealing.
