Uploading Contract Template for everyone

Gentlemen (and ladies?),

II’m thinking about uploading a general contract to the site for people to reference and use. Obviously, each state has different rules, regulations, and laws, but I think it would be helpful for everyone to have. I’ll also include some other practical legal tips and tricks regarding business practices as it relates to powerwashing. I understand many of us already have legal representation/attorneys, but again it might be nice to have in your arsenal.

As background, i’m a licensed attorney in NJ and when i operated my private practice I represented contractors, among other clients. I proactively stopped taking on private clients a couple years ago.

Is this allowed? @squidskc @Steve

Is there any interest in this?

Definitely interested, thanks!

Yes please

Interested for sure

I would love this!

Sounds great! Can’t think of any reason why it wouldn’t be allowed, since you’re not selling anything. You’ll obviously have the standard disclaimer to consult our own attorneys, lol.

Just curious, why did you stop practicing law?

You got that right. LOL. I should have tagged you as well (sorry about that)

The short answer is I got burnt out. I graduated law school, passed the BAR and got employed by one of the bigger law firms down by me, in Atlantic City, NJ. I worked there for a while then started my own practice in 2010. By the time i was 28ish I was putting in 12-14 hour days, not getting to see my smoking hot (new) wife, and generally disliking everything about PRACTICING law (administrative rules, loopholes you have to jump through, etc.) - I still love the law, just hate practicing it. What’s the point of making bank if you don’t have the time to spend it? you know? Like i mentioned, i’m still a licensed attorney, but now my only 2 clients are me and my family’s businesses.

I powerwashed all growing up, took it with me to college, then to law school in michigan (got a scholarship out there), and then back here once i moved back. Always did it, but after stopping my practice I was able to devote real equitable hours into it to make it grow.

People sometimes give me a funky look when I tell them i stopped taking on private clients, but i’ve never been happier.

Sorry to go on a diatribe.

Got to do what make you happy man I agree. Life is about family and friends and toys can’t forget the toys . I started doing this a while ago before this I was a GSM at one of the largest used car dealership in Florida. My schedule was open to close I was lucky if I got every other Tuesday off without being guilted in to work. My new born son was asleep when I left and asleep when I got home . Most of the guys I worked with were ok with that I wasn’t. I definitely made more money but I was miserable. Life is much better now .

Now if it would just stop raining I could get some work done . Haven’t been able to work a single day this week .

I’ll upload something this week or early next week for everyone.

Good for you man. That’s awesome.

I’m with Steve and Alex. Frankly, you know a lot more about the law than any of us do so you know all about disclaimers, etc. I’d probably just put a similar disclaimer up that says all areas are different, yadda yadda like you did above.

But if you practiced law in NJ, NY, CA, or any other regulatory nightmare states whatever you put up is probably more than the rest of us need. Lol

I think the general consensus is that a lot of people would really like you to share this. Maybe just upload it to google drive and share the link with us? Just in case posting it here would violate something in the TOS.

You don’t work in the rain??? I don’t stay home for anything other than lightning.

I uploaded a template last week just as a heads up

Come on man I’m in Florida it rain every day this time of year . It’s pouring rite now actually I’m sitting in the truck waiting for the rain to let up a little. So I can get back to work. To answer your question I get rained on every day while working. My only problem is I’m currently doing roof cleansing in two HOA’s both are big jobs and both are about a month behind because of to much rain. Roof cleaning and paver sealing are the only things we don’t do in the rain . Everything else we just keep on working like it’s not there.

Oh I see. I don’t do roofs so I didn’t know you can’t work in the rain. Maybe someone on here has a solution for roof cleaning in the rain? Would be awesome if you didn’t have to miss out on work!

That’s would be nice but it’s just a dream . Most of the time when it rains here it’s usually partnered with some good winds also. No to mention no dwell time for the chem there really is nothing to do but wait . Half of the roofs I’m cleaning are 3 story so no need for extra worry being that high and spraying soap on tile roof comes with enough worry of it own
