Truck washing (Soaps, Tips and Tricks)

That’s not bad considering how many washes it’s done

Went and finished up Ferrellgas this evening after knocking out our moving company trucks. How do you go about telling a company they need to have more frequent cleanings? These trucks haven’t been cleaned in years I think. Broke out the brush and still wasn’t breaking the film. I really need to just pony up the shipping for Hydrochem. You m hoping their soaps are better than my local vendor.

Here are the trucks I got to clean today.

And my dumbass forgot to get afters except for this one. Sun going down gave it a bad tinge though, that and the ■■■■ is stained. May have to try HF

.

Once you go HF your hooked dude ! You get some hf with dyna clean or film fighter on there and all that dingy stuff slides off like butter on a hot biscuit. Or get the 2 step gun and use super sonic with film fighter or dyna clean and kinda get the same results, but faster with no worries about glass. Either way you can hang up the brushes,I’m partial to HF though

Dealing with some food poisoning yesterday so I decided to send off some emails I have been sitting on. Ended up getting a 16 piece (all straight trucks) account done bi-weekly. Not bad for laying on the couch all day long.

Now I am heading out to a local rock and sand company that has a bunch of dump trucks that I am going to try and bid on. Haven’t bid on these at all and really didn’t see anything new around the board on pricing. I was thinking $55 for the truck and $45 for the trailers. Should I be higher or is that about right? The aluminum on the sides are already “frosted” over so it’s no longer polished. I should be getting my Hydrochem soaps tomorrow or Thursday so that’ll help hopefully. Can’t wait to try the new soaps compared to my local vendor. Especially at $4.10/gallon compared to $15-17/gallon.

How many is a bunch? If it were me I’d go $65 on the truck and add on around $25 or so for brightner of the wheels on each full unit. But that depends on how many trucks they have. Good job man.

25+ pieces total. I should know more in an hour when I get there on how many pieces. They are a little out of the way but I don’t mind if I can land this contract. So far, from just pounding on doors with zero advertising I have landed 4 contracts now in just over a month. Told the wife, if I can just get 1 contract a month I’ll be happy. And the guy I landed yesterday said he has some in’s with some other local companies (1 with over 100 pieces).

Are you washing the motors ?

Not sure. This is a cold knock, pretty much all I have been doing since I started. Haven’t done motors yet, but my guess would be to lay some degreaser down and let it dwell then hot water rinse? And if that was an add on, I am assuming an extra $25

I need you to come make some sales for me. I’ve been to over 60 places in the past two months and added one new client

Everyone seems to have their own washbay around here.

We charge a flat rate of $50 to degrease a normal motor. Now if they just want it washed with a little shot of dyna clean and heat, I would stick with your price of $55 to $65 on the truck. Degreaser is expensive and labor consuming. I’d definitely up sell the brightner, you got alot of rims there in those pics man. If they want the motors just washed,no degreaser. Hit them up for $20 a pop or so for the first wash. After that they’ll be super easy to maintain. Just because they have alot of trucks. If they don’t, I’d go higher across the board

I made a 100 flyers and I am down to less than 20 now, so I know how you feel.

As much as I don’t think I am a people person, my wife says I really am. I know how to relate to people, whether they are corporate white collars or hard working rough handed blue collar workers.

I introduce myself, tell them I own a mobile wash unit and would love for them to jump in on the ground floor (since I am new) of my Veteran Owned Business. They ask how long I have been doing it and I tell them less than a year and offer up my 3 current accounts to ask if they are satisfied. I need to get them to start posting reviews, for some reason nobody likes to do them. I hand them my business card and my Truck Flyer, which a lot of people like (pictured below).

And it looks like I have dump trucks at $50 on my flyer, I think I went with blue beacon pricing on this so I could stay competitive with the local washer.

Yep ,you gotta stay competitive with the wash bays.

No luck with the dump trucks today. They have their own wash bay, just don’t think they use it…kinda the reason I drove 30 minutes out to check them out.

Have a couple more tomorrow I am going to hit up to see if I can get them to switch from another mobile washing company. I know my prices are about 20% cheaper on straight trucks, but he is my sister-in-law nephew. Not sure I want to do it just yet, but I still have to eat as well right?!? I owe him nothing in regards to this business and have hired him once to plow my driveway, my only interaction with him

Can’t win them all @GeorgeNicholson . Go after the family account, no family discounts, family is family, business is business. You can pick your butt and nose, can’t pick family. But you can pick your prices … just do a good job on them especially, just like ya always do

Someone in the “family” is already cleaning them and I want the account. Like I said it’s my sister in laws nephew so it’s not like I’m interact with him ever

Oo. Misunderstood. Well at least you can skip the family reunion’s from now on, if you get the contract.:joy:

Talked to my sister in law, her wife’s nephew is the one I plan on trying to take business away from. After our talk I don’t mind now. He takes his kids out there, one is preteen I believe, to help brush everything. And she said companies are starting to get upset because his other businesses are starting to get in the way, he has a lawn care business as well, and they don’t like the fact he is using his kids on their property.

Sounds like a perfect time to pounce as they are growing thin, from the scuttlebutt I hear. And she said he would 100% try to undercut me if he could. Sounds like the perfect guy to try to put out of the pressure washing business so he can focus on lawn care and snow removal. Monday I start to knock on his doors.
