Truck washing (Soaps, Tips and Tricks)

It’s a bypass for rinsing @Greenman im assuming , y’all got one at the PW. it bypasses the DS injector, The theory is that it gives you more gpms because it’s not going through the DS injector orifice. But I don’t get it on that gun.

Ok, after reading all the comments about the 2 step guns…Am I to assume that both of those soap lines (in the pic above) connected in front of the gun go all the way back to your trailer? Attached basically to the pressure hose? If so, that would have to be a pain to maneuver and pull around all day.

Your correct. and to boot it’s a pain to roll up because of the two 1/4" chem lines are attached somewhere to your chem tanks and are wrapped in that big vac line you see in the pic along with your pressure hose. so I was told you can qc off then roll up , but then you lose 100’ of chem in each line, because I run 100 ’ of high pressure line. This is the price ppl are paying to upstream acid and soaps without going through the pump. Y’all can basically upstream SH with that and make it twice as productive on certain jobs

Ahhh I see, cuts out a bottle neck. In reality are people seeing a real appreciable increase in gpm?

I could see better performance if you put the DS on the bottom, giving your water a straight shot to your reel. But there is a noticeable difference in that setup simply because your bypassing that little orifice inside the DS.
I think @Racer got it figured out on his rig if I recall.

@Greenman if you want to see the difference unplug your injector and run your machine that way you can see for yourself if its worth it.

Did you feel the difference? I tried it before with my 4gpm pump back years ago but haven’t with the new pumps. I really couldn’t tell to much, but I could tell some.maybe a placebo effect. I’ve heard you can definitely tell with the bigger gpm pumps, But thats all what I’ve heard ,not seen. I guess a true bucket test would tell. But it does make sense.

Wonder why he’s running a swivel right before his lance/wand???

Well said. Did you look at that gun pic above ? How does it work by incorporating soap under pressure ? Or is it just a 2 chem DS gun and switch soaps without walking back to trailer or remote.

It’s not high pressure I believe you can only run them up to 1,200 before it knocks out the Venturi from the increased back pressure

The one Hydrochem sells puts out chems up to 2400 psi.

I’m sure they’re all different but at some point the increased back pressure will keep it from drawing chem

They told me its plug and play and alls I gotta do is turn my unloader down between 1900 to 2400 psi

Ha, so it’s going to cost you a dollar per psi initially to run it

You could blow it back into your chem tank with a little 5 gallon portable air tank… cheapskate

all the magic is at the PW I believe. All the gun does is switch soaps at the T , then turn valve to bypass and rinse.

Nothing more back at the truck other than drop tubes but maybe some unions or quick disconnects for the 1/4" chem hoses

Then how the hell does that thing work? I’m looking right at it lol. Turing that black valve one way is enough to incorporate chems under 2400 psi? All that brass valve does I think is switch 2 different chems

Hey look I don’t know EXACTLY how it works I don’t study fluid dynamics and have a engineering degree and they likely don’t know how it’s working either lol but the point is someone along the way got to work with a Frankenstein accident. I would guess that opening the mini ball valve on the hose decreases the back pressure on the downstream injector allowing it to pull chem then closing the valve increases the back pressure knocking out there Venturi effect. Or I could be wrong and it works the opposite way who knows lol

It’s just bugs the hell outta me that I can’t figure it out. And to why @pressureguy bought that gun set up for $1200 and the flyer up top says its $245 shipped with out chem lines and vac hose . Drives me nuts lol.
And yes , then theres the swivel like you said.
