Truck washing (Soaps, Tips and Tricks)

And before I forget

$8.50 a gallon if you buy a case at my local Farm service’s.

No brown discharge. Gonna go to Tractor Supply and see what they have… plus I gotta get some 1/4"hose and 5/8" hose as well as a ball valve

I forgot to tell you this George but that old style 3 way ball valve will shut off both soap lines, the new ones do not, so I stick my finger over the tube to get more suction and less air incorporate in the system when winterizing.

That’s good to know. I was going to put in a shutoff valve or a bypass to the injector.

So when I started out back in April I reached out to a lot of companies regarding their fleet. Today I got an email from a construction company looking at pricing. I saw that I emailed them on April 15th. I’m sure there are going to be some dumb questions coming up regarding the cleaning of construction equipment.

My advice is whatever you think you should charge add 20%. Construction equipment gets abused and all the nooks and crannies make it a pain in the @$$. Scratch that. Add 25%.

Went out and cleaned one of my moving company trucks tonight. 9 trucks in total. I wanted to experiment tonight with the tires tonight. So here is what I did and the results:

Mixed equal parts Dyana-Clean and Bright and Water - 3/4 gallon each
Threw in ~2 cups of HSC-400

Cleaned my trucks as normal and when we got done we used our pump up sprayer with our new mix and wetted each tire with zero scrubbing.

Here is the results:

This is from an earlier post in the thread with just 2 stepping the wheels:

HUGE Difference!

They look great man, exactly like mine but you just keep adding up the steps don’t you?

How would I know if I am down streaming versus upstreaming? I am new to fleet washing.

It literally added 5 minutes after cleaning everything. Had time as my son reeled up the hose and we were draining the tank.

Right before your hose there will be an injector with a 1/4" line that will feed to your soaps is downstreamimg.

Upstreaming you draw your chemicals before your pump

:rofl::joy::face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Has anyone ever used omega chemicals.
I spoke with the owner at and he said it’s a true one step system.
I’m also looking hydro chems two step system?
Can anyone elaborate on any one of these 2

I don’t mix any soap with degreaser. I just either DS the 400 to wash the whole unit, or mix it in a poly sprayer to achieve anything in between of degreasing a 5th wheel to pre treat for bugs.
I said this before @GeorgeNicholson, The 400 is great but watch it on aluminum, it’ll turn it streaky brown , And totally ruin polished aluminum. But if it ain’t polished, then the final step would be HF

I have, it’s not true. And Jerry Kafitz is awfully proud of his chemicals, way to much $$…
Go with Hydrochem man and save yourself a headache. Omega will get you close to a 1 step brushless, Throwing down a ton of his soap, But in order to accomplish a true brushless wash when DS ,You’ll need to 2 step .

What is a ton to you? 2,000 lbs of soap can’t be right lol

Funny man. But buy this time next year, everyone will be buying my (Let’s talk dirty )elixirs of soaps and acid blends for US and DS. You get the funny man discount friend.

This guy sent me a message when someone was talking 1 step and 2 step. I threw out Hydro-Chem and spoke about how a 1 step won’t be over time. I think a 1 step is a great maintenance wash in between cycles or every other wash.

This guy told me his was so much better than Hydro-Chem. Asked about the price point and it was $375 for the #1 or #2. I told him I could get 3 times the amount for just one of theirs. He said you can achieve 30:1 with his soaps. I was like cool, at worse I get 15:1. So in essence I still save $125 for the same results. He refused to understand the math even after breaking it down Barney style for him.

Finally had to tell him if it was that great even at that price point then he wouldn’t have to PM me and keep trying to get me to buy his product. If he stood by it that much send me a 5 gallon pail of his #1 and #2 and I would switch to him if it was truly better. He refused and I asked him kindly to stop messaging me if he didn’t really stand behind his own product (this was after multiple texts over a couple of hours of me not responding). He hasn’t sent me anything since

If I were you, because you do fleet work @GeorgeNicholson , I’d go the upstreaming route like @dperez does ,using your same soaps, not acids. And I believe you can still downstream your acid if you get a high dollar rig to wash. I might be wrong, but I’m getting ready to do just that if its possible. So 1 machine can do Us and DS ,only draw back is ,You can’t Bypass back to buffer tank while US,You know this already, But if your UP then just turn a 3 way valve to bypass back to pump, If DS,turn the same valve to bypass back to buffer. You are like @dperez, You need them clean, fast. I’m stuck with 90 % of mine needing them show room clean. But the other 10% I could do the US like Dez does. Cause it’s way quicker
