Trailer build-Just bought some new to me equipment

I’m excited to get this rig set up. Some of the stuff I’m not real excited about but it’ll work for now. I was mainly interested in the machines but I threw him an offer on all of it and he took it. Everything works awesome. I’m excited to make some money with them.
The cold water is 8.5gpm and the hot is 6.0
I’m looking at getting a couple 20" hammerheads for now.
Does anyone have any experience with any 24" SC on the market. I’m trying to avoid a really slow walk.

Let’s see some plumbing pics so we can see why you are moving slowly with that 8.5 hot? You need 1.5” ID non-collapsible suction hose to the pump and 1/2” high pressure to the pump and 50’ of 1/2” on the reel. What pressure is the pump rated to? Maybe the nozzles are not sized appropriately?

Sorry for the confusion.
My 8.5 is cold 3500
6.0 is hot 3500

I don’t have the system set up yet, I bought it from a guy who did oil field fleet washing primarily so I don’t have a surface cleaner yet. I was looking for recommendations. I’ve heard with the big guy sc you have to walk slowly with 8gpm.
Majority of people are saying 4bar WW classic.

Thanks for responding

Oh… I’m following you now! You have the TSF2021 and it is spec’d at 8 gpm at 3500 psi. You need to always use one 8.5 nozzle or larger at the gun. If using a surface cleaner, 2 nozzle spray bar, use 25 degree 4.5 orifice nozzles and if using a 4 nozzle spray bar, 25 degree 2.5 orifice nozzles. Those are important numbers to know.

The 6.0 at 3500 is calling for a 6.5 orifice nozzle at the gun. That’s an odd one. We would suggest two 25 degree 3.5 nozzles on a two nozzle spray bar. Don’t use a four nozzle bar on that unit.

It depends on your scope of work. If you plan to buy one surface cleaner to start off with, buy the 19” Classic. If you clean pavers or live and work in and around sand, choose the two nozzle spray bar because going with the four nozzle spray bar will cause you to have to stop to clean out clogged nozzles from sand particulate.

If you plan to do lots of flat work, choose the 24” Lil Big Guy or 28” Big Guy. You can move faster with the 24”. The axle allows for easy forward and backward movement.

The 4 caster foldable handle 24” Ground Force is in between, heavier and can allow the user to move around in circles using the casters unlike the axle assembly of the Lil / Big Guy. Whisper Wash will customize the handles in any way really. They will put a Classic handle on the Ground Force if you ask.

Plumbing your pressure washers correctly is the key to speed. Use 1” non-collapsible suction hose on the 6.0 if the inlet is 1/2”.

I have seen you post several times to use the 1.5" suction for the TSF 2021 but I believe it has a 1/2" intake so what is that getting you? I ask because it would seem that it can only pull X amount and I just don’t know that there is a volume gain. Thanks

Thanks Lori, that’s some good information there.

The TSF2021 has a 3/4”’port. We have a barb is 1.5” x 3/4” (part 5049). Cat Pump suggests in the literature to move up in hose ID sizes. When the 8gpm units first became popular we had guys coming in with constant problems until we perfected the plumbing. We upsized the plumbing and stopped seeing guys in for repairs. It was even worse with hot water units plumbed with 1” suction and 3/8” outlet hoses.

When you supply the pump with more water, you will move faster surface cleaning and shoot farther using your gun, the overall output is improved. Every upgraded system never goes back.

Why would you not maximize output on a unit that you purchased specifically for output? Thank you for asking.

Thanks. I think I’ll be ordering the Plumb-8 kit.

Would the DSI need to be up-sized to go on that 1/2 line? Or is this not for use with DSI’s and just for high volume for surface cleaning? Seems like an 3/8" DSI would defeat the purpose of the 1/2" jump and that 50’ on the reel? Or does it still provide flow benefit?

The DSI bypass kit that is sold by some distributors only uses 3/8” hose as far as I’ve seen… We custom make them with the high pressure flow straight through for 8 gpm units and up using 1/2” R2 hose and less fittings.
I haven’t seen any DSI That are 1/2”. You can go with a dual port injector (still 3/8”) and pull more chem. The dual port injector is $22 and change and awesome. You need hoses the same length and filters without check valves or the special one I make out of pvc.
I like that you are asking the questions.

Always remove the injector when not in use. Always install the injector closer to the reel than the pump. Look at the pic of the hex nipple. The customer wondered why the unloader stopped working…

We’ve had a few people call the office to tell us about the pump specs. The TSF2021 has a 3/4” inlet on both bottom ports of the pump, I promise. :slightly_smiling_face:
Please see the pump spec sheet below from the General Pump site.TSF2021 Pump Breakdown

The TS2021 has two 1/2” inlets and should be supplied with a 1” non-collapsible suction hose. Pressure Pro privately labels the TS2021 as the HP5535 (brass head). If you are proactively maintain your pump and want to save bucks, you can choose the brass head over the nickel plated head of the TS2021.

What would be the issue supplying both with 1" suction hose?

Absolutely none.

I understand the theory or supplying as big as possible but it gets necked down to 3/4 regardless and I want to run the same in line filters to each machine

1" hose on suction side of pump will flow at 16gpm. 1.5" id will flow at 35 gpm. The 1" is almost double your output even on a 8gpm machine. That’s assuming gravity or low pressure of 6psi.

I run a 1" on both my 4gpm and my 8.5gpm

What in line filters are “best”?
Easy to maintain
Do a good job filtering

I like the Blue top ones. Watch my trailer build 2 video on youtube.

I’ve watched that before. Yes I like those filters

What brand are they
