Trail cameras

I didnt want to rerail yet another thread with a bunch of other stuff… but wanted to talk cameras.

@SchertzServicesLLC @Innocentbystander @squidskc And others that may run cameras.

What cameras are you running these days? Its been about 4/5 years since i slacked up on trail cameras… we were running ~15 leading up to deer season and 6/7 year round for other glorious critters.

I ran 95% Covert Cameras and they always did great job, Great customer services when needed, and good prices. Looking at new stuff things havent changed much, but there are some new companies. We will likely be adding one of the cellular cameras due to being 1 hr from land. I know @Innocentbystander has a cellular able camera, but just wanted to see what everybody is using.

We have a few cheap primos cameras. I am really looking into a cellular camera as well.

I’ve got a pile of Primos cameras refurbed from the Bushnell outlet store for $40 a camera. I forget the actual model, but they were selling for $120/camera when I got them for $40. Work just fine for what I need them for. I hate having to swap the little SD chip every week or so though. I’d prefer one that goes to the cloud so I can scope them out online.

I’ll take a picture of them tomorrow if interested. Got 8 in a box in the garage. 3 of them never even used. Still have the straps in the rubber band. If you want one I’ll send you one.

When they came out they were expensive, not much different now, but the plans a pain and signal were iffy at best. Seems past few years they have made major strides and even have apps on the phone to control everything so you dont have to use email delievery.

That is awfuly nice of you, but i literall have a duffle bag and a back pack full of cameras… not to mention the odd one here or there in the garage.

Now, if they are broken and worthless i would possibly be interested in using for a dummy cams at the road/gate.

We have an auction house nearby that has huge sales on outdoor gear. Most of it is new in the box. When they have a sale they have 100-200 cameras. I have yet to go to one and see what they go for.

The big nice thing about being in a “hunting party” is that we all buy a new stand each year and set it in a good location. And we are all able to use any stand. Having access to 30-40 stands is great. We have lots of field edge stands and hunting the wind is never a problem with all the places to hunt.

I have 30 acres that I lease on the spoon river and can bring a buddy hunting!

This fall I’ll have to mail you guys some of my jerky and salami. I make the BEST smoked salami rolls with mozzarella cheese. People ask for them for Christmas presents every year lol

Im glad we done have those auctions here…cud be trouble. And i agree one th stands, i love my hang on stand, but in the dark its way easier to climb up a stand andhe ready to go.

I have always been in hunt clubs with dogs… outside of bow hunting, there is nothin better to me. Id be lying if i said i wasnt a little sad i wont be in the club as a member this year to hunt with dogs every day, but know enough people to go somewhere if i ever ant to. If itsnot early season with bow, i hate still hunting. But i will learn to like it a little better owning the land. Its only 50 acres, but its in the heart of the best hunting in the state, by the #’s technically 3rd. One of my best friends has 4-5k acrea of family land to hunt in the same county so we will get with him from time to time, and it might be nothing but the guy goin in with me has a in with his boss that owns 400+ acres also in same county that he is going to try and give it a shot for us to bow hunt there as well.

Its a good start to rubbing elbows with the right people and the land around us is hunted by the one of th biggest clubs in area. Hope we can continue therelationship the past owner had with them.

Yeah im ready for hunting.

What state is that?

This buck was shot 1.5 miles from one of my properties. 42 pointer lol

He’s ugly but the shooter (Scott Dexter) has made a small fortune off him!

Va… was that a free range/wild animal? Thing is gnarly

Yes free range! We don’t have any deer farms around here.

Thats amazing. Id mount it on my head board so i cud sleep with it (i would have likely missed if i encountered it though)

If youuuuuu set trail cameras on your lunch break in dress cloths… You might be a redneck.

less than 60 days!!!
