There is a clear choice

Y’all can flag this if you like…I know that everyone can’t handle the truth.

Trump and truth belong nowhere near the same paragraph.

Imo that can be said about most elections anywhere these days.

I do think that the topic should be closed/removed though - everyone is so conditioned to treat the other side as traitors, that there is simply no chance for discourse.

I really wish that I could say something profound that would make people think twice, but the reality is that no one cares - I am a patriot to half the country and a traitor to the other half regardless of what I say.

The sad part is that all this division is only hurting the 99%, and only helping the 1%.

Libritarian or other third party? I was raised republican, but can’t stand what either party has become. Plus, the Libritarian canadate can speak and has her PhD. (Of course that’s not the end all of why someone would be a good candidate) It took a long time for me to read a bunch of arguments for their ideals to make sense and not sound crazy, but the libritarians I know tend to be well researched and socially responsible. Idk if third party will win this time, but the two old parties combined make up less than half of the voting population, and a surprising number of 40 and unders are thinking more third party, so I feel like in an election or two third party may win. The two old parties do restrict other parties from being in the debates and have for decades, so that kind of stinks since the people dont actually know all their options as well as the could. What Im referring to is the democratic and republican parties run the committee that decides who will debate, and then they do that by poles. In those poles, they don’t give people the option to choose their third party canadate, so then the pole shows they arent a viable option, which then excludes them from the debate. I don’t hate people that are republican or democrat, but it does make me mad that such a pathetic power grab has been made by controlling the media in that way from both parties. This is the US after all, so if one parties ideals are so good they should be able to stand on their own merit, but we have stepped away from honest discourse in favor of inflammatory, emotionally charged click bait.

I vote that we delete the politics subsection of the “off-topic” section of the forum. There are plenty of other places to discuss politics, and all I can see coming from this is people losing respect for one another, for reasons that have nothing to do with our industry or businesses.

@Chris, @Alex, @Steve, @Jordie, @squidskc, what say you guys?

Amen to that

It makes no difference to me, as I probably wouldn’t participate anyway. I generally just don’t open topics that I’m not interested in. Personally, I’m not very easily offended or {{{TRIGGERED}}} by what anyone else thinks or says, so the politics sub-section doesn’t bother me, but again, I don’t care if it stays or goes.

Who are you voting for @Infinity thought ide ask to see if I could offend you in some way shape or form lol.

I don’t think it should be deleted. The Topic is “politics” so if someone wants to avoid any political discussion they don’t have to click on it. I would take down any comments that violate the forum rules but till then everyone can be an adult.

I don’t vote in elections. Or rather, I cast my vote for Christ when I was baptized.

See what you can do with that… :smirk:

But I’m pretty difficult to offend. Heard pretty much everything by now :briefcase: :man_in_tuxedo: :fishing_pole_and_fish:

In my earlier response to @MuscleMyHustle I made a slight reference to this, and I am quoting from memory, but in one of the older episodes from the show South Park they “argued” that every election comes down to choosing between a “Giant xxx” and a “xxx Sandwich”, yet it is still out civic duty to vote.
According to Wikipedia, they did some sort of a rehash for the last election, but I have not seen that.

Regardless, even if I knew that someone will vote for the other side, I’d still prefer they voted, than not.

Edit: @Infinity

Answered like a true politician :face_with_hand_over_mouth::face_with_hand_over_mouth::ok_hand::ok_hand:

My feelings are that an uniformed vote is way worse than no vote at all. That’s what keeps these lifelong morons in Congress that do absolutely nothing for the country except get a paycheck from us. Term limits would definitely help fix that, though.

Now, if you were to say an educated vote is better than no vote at all I would completely agree with you. It’s just too bad that most of the population votes along party lines and has no idea who they’re really voting for.

The same could be said for Biden along with pretty much every other politician in Washington. They all think they know better than use so always tell us what they think we want to hear no matter how much bs it is. They’re all crooks.

@marinegrunt I don’t disagree with what you’re saying, I’m with you on that but comparing those two is hardly comparing apples to apples and I’ll leave it at that.

All I’m going to say is I don’t understand how energy drinks and sea food can be purchased with ebt, when it’s a treat any time I go buy shrimp or steak to grill. I don’t fault people for having a situation and needing help, but a lot have made a lifestyle out of it. Best thing I found to do I’d focus on me and my goals, be kind to people, and act like cheap toilet paper when necessary.

What you would qualify as educated/informed and uninformed voter, I would qualify as more mis-informed and less mis-informed, respectively.

And if we were to have a “reasonable” discussion you might actually see some logic to my reasoning, we might be able to find a middle ground where we each recognize some value to the other person’s opinion.

But that is not where today’s politics are, and why this thread is likely not a good idea.
Today people are allowed to have their own facts, and there is no compromise on facts.

If my facts are that the planet is flat, and you argue that it is not, then you are either calling me stupid/ignorant, or a liar - do you think we would still be able to have a “reasonable discussion”?I
