Just curios my salesman said that I should not use an alternator to charge agm batteries but trickle charge only. Are you using an agm/deep cycle to run your pump?
You typically should not need a brush
Was wondering when you 2 were gonna figure it out. Lol
Trickle charge your batteries every night. I alternate mine every two days. That way I get a good drain on the one Iām using seams to me like it helps them last longer by draining them down then charging back up. Remember dont store you batteries on concrete
Or you could use koolaid packets like I did due to equipment and parts being scattered amongst the yard. Not to mention about 10 trips to the store that day.
@Seandz yes, I use deep cycle marine batteries, alternator tops up what Iāve used and canāt see it being an issue as thatās how vehicles and boats are by design, Iām applying the same principle to my 12v setup and have no issues, however if you ever drain it completely flat I would trickle charge it over night, the way I have mine set up itās always at good health between driving to jobs.
@wap2dem good old Hawkes bay, used to have a batch there, loved loading up the 2 strokes and ripping around the property. What made you move to Australia? Filthy place? Plenty of work you figured?
Oh you guys are kiwis, how unfortunateā¦
@AUSSIE whatās up skippy!
This is a myth now since itās been many years since the cases were made with tar lined wooden boxes, hard rubber or steel.
I saw a stack of batteries at an auto zone setting on concrete and asked that same question, guy behind the counter said exactly the same thing you did. It USED to be true but itās been a longggg time ago.
@AUSSIE you guys could do with a dip after those roaring bushfires, sad sight indeed. Hopefully hasnāt affected you.
They didnāt affect the northern territory where I am,
Possibly because we burn off every year which helps prevent a huge accumulation of dead wood.
Very serious in other states though. Bloody greenies and doo gooders
Where was your batch? I was doing a carpentry apprenticeship after I left the army. Got fed up with that, sold what belongings I had and moved to Adelaide to pursue ultra marathon running. Was hitting 150km per week in training, going well and then got injured (nothing permanent). The layoff made me evaluate my future. I enjoy pushing my physical limits however as its a niche sport, the money isnāt really there at this stage. I decided to start a business with what money I had, was originally going to go into lawncare/landscaping but then met a guy who told me about Post Construction cleaning and how he made $7k in a week doing a school. So I decided to go down that avenue, secured my first contract to clean a new gas station, then thought Iād do window cleaning to keep busy between builders cleans. A customer asked if I did pressure cleaning, and now here I am. Iām now planning to build a softwash 12v system so I can get into house washing and roof washing.
So I did the job today with the help of a friend. Pre treated it with around a 3-4% mix, let it dwell, agitated it with a stiff bristled brush and then rinsed it. My friend was on the hose keeping the plants wet throughout. Some of the paint was removed in the process. I donāt know if that was because the mix may have been too hot or possibly me agitating it with the brush. Anyway I showed the owner and told her there had been the some paint removed in the process (when I quoted she did say they were likely going to repaint and wanted it clean for that) so she didnāt appear to be concerned. What can I do to avoid this next time? Or does this happen from time to time? Could it have been something to do with the paint?
Some paints arenāt designed to handle bleach, they can soften and run. Using the brush on the softened surface surely didnāt help it adhere. Why did you agitate it? Did it not come off with dwell time or were you āhelping it alongā by scrubbing?
I was a bit gung-ho, just the classic thought process of āIāll hit it with my chem and then agitate to help it alongā
Depending on what they painted it with and how much the coating has degraded over time it might have done that with just the wash⦠BUT in future Iād probably refrain from scrubbing unless absolutely necessary. ⦠like after a few applications with appropriate dwell time and still not seeing the results.
Yeah I was too focused on getting it removed asap. Hopefully she pays up and there are no issues.
