Stone Aggregate Wall Panels, and the X-Jet

So bid on a building that has Stone Aggregate Wall Panels, I searched on here, and only found driveways and flat stuff…

I did spot testing with a pump up back pack sprayer:

I have a few questions. First off, it seems apparent that I need a mix stronger than my DS can provide, much the same as stucco.

So, my question is, should I buy an x-jet, or x-jet M5, will it reach the top of this building? I have a 4gpm 4,000 psi rig on my little trailer.

I was considering using a Gardiner, or My4Sons, or Hudson backpack sprayer for chemical delivery as I have a waterfed pole that would reach the top easily. But, I would rather treat this building as a big house, and wash it.

Secondly, there is shading left behind after the very strong SH mix. I am sure it is roof run-off, pollution and exhaust. The manufacturer recommends degreaser for this.

I would really like to know if I should get an x-jet for this project, as I think I will need higher concentrations of both SH and degreaser. This is definitely, a 2-step.

Thanks!

@Racer @Innocentbystander @squidskc @dcbrock @anon37135677 Help please!

I wouldnt wash it, but if you do, 4 gpm and xjet probably won’t reach. If it does you’ll have tons of over spray. I wouldn’t use degreaser.

The best advice I can give on this is that you won’t be able to hit this area from the ground with 4gpm. If you can position a ladder in a good spot it’s doable but you’ll need a longer hose for the xjet, which I’d say you’ll need to clean this if not a 12v. I’d say @racer will have good advice for this one.

Fair enough. You wouldn’t believe the amatuer hour it is up here in Canada. I was called because the other company tired to use pressure only, and did a 4 foot section in 4 hours and bailed. And they were the “big guys” with amazing equipment. I accomplished more than them with a backpack in one hour, as a test, because I actually know what bleach is.

It is a gong show up here.

From experience, some if not most of it you’ll have to hit multiple times. Maybe just twice but may take 4-5 times. As Max said I’d use a 12V. I’d try using EBC for the degreaser if needed. Be sure to prewet windows as you probably know… Just rinse with medium pressure. But you just have to keep hitting it till it 's gone. Don’t rinse the panels between applications, about 10min in between. Don’t underbid it, you’re going to use a fair amount of SH and be there a little while.

I went rich, and hit it twice. I really took my time. Didn’t try degreaser at all. Was only paid for the 2 alkaline tests.

Out of curiosity, what was the temperature when you did your test? Do you have a lift license?

It is very tentative that I might land this, but SH in high concentration does a lot here. But, there is staining in a run-off pattern, that doesnt budge. I haven’t been able to test, but I think degreaser will be necessary much like the falllout issue.

I am not willing to brush or scrub though.

+2c and I dont have a lift license, and I am not interested in getting one.

That temperature will definitely slow down the process. If it needs medium pressure you’ll obviously need a lift… I can send you a link to get one if you change your mind. You can get EBC locally at Sherwin Williams but I think you already know that. If not, shoot EBC an email and they’ll get you set up with a store of your choice. They did it for me a while back, they have great customer service.

Also if you’re thinking of buying an xjet from this side of the border, you can build a 12v set up for practically the same price if you’re interested. I can send you links to what I use lmk if you ever want them
