I attached a 90 degree extension (see pic) to clean out the gutters. The sideways pressure broke the plastic connector on the Dewalt spray gun immediatley when I pulled the trigger. I’m afraid if I replace the spray gun with the same model it will happen again. Did I do something wrong in the operation of the gun, or do I need a better spray gun?
Please advise. Thanks.
I think you probably already know the answer to that…plastic has no place (other than as a cover) on anything that you want to last.

Thanks for your response.
To clarify, the plastic was not structural. The threaded metal tube that the plastic covered snapped where it screwed in. Can you recommend spray gun?
I think just about everyone uses a Suttner 2305, or some similar version.

Thank you JA. Much appreciated.
Stainless steel components create a durable long lasting trigger gun, especially suitable when using alkalines. Comfort technology designed trigger system actually helps the operator keep the trigger open. Fatigue is reduced, allowing longer work...
Price: USD 109.00
I like this one….all stainless, I’ve had it for several years no issues at all.

Even with a nice Suttner if you put that sort of load on the quick connect it’ll snap on you. You’ll need to hold the wand with the other hand.
I attempted to do the same thing two years ago on some clogged gutter helmets but it was almost uncontrollable so I gave up.

If you’re going to do anything like that you would want to run a much larger nozzle than what’s intended for your machine so you get flow with WAY less pressure

I got a Yamatic gun (max 4500 psi) on amazon. Trying to get by a little cheaper - just using it for occasional jobs around the house.
I was able reduce the psi by backing off the unloader enough to finish the job using the 90 degree extension without breaking my new gun.
Thank you all.
That’s not how that works
Are you talking about the pressure adjustment knob? I’m corn-fused.
Good to hear the ST-2700 is taking care of you! Years later at that… Will most definitely be my next one. The 2315 has been absolutely fabulous & still is! The 2305 didn’t last long at all. Still have my original 2605 as a back up.

Amazing gun….can’t believe it’s held up this long, no complaints.

The pump is a AAA EW4040.
Here’s the diagram/parts list:
Item 28 in the parts list is the unloader kit:
Item 27 in the parts list is the knob I turned to reduce the psi at the nozzle.
Isn’t that the unloader knob?
The unloader is not used to raise and lower pressure. It is used to set the pressure to the specs of the machine. Tips are used to raise and lower pressure.

I used the unloader knob to adjust the pressure at the nozzle with good results.
These articles, and my limited experience, seem to contradict your opinion.

A few things:
You are reading the directions provided by the manufacturer of one of the most unreliable pumps on the market
Adjusting with the unloader plays havoc with the unloader and machine.
If you have a machine with a knob on the unloader you don’t have a machine worth owning for anything other than homeowner use
Advice here is free, unless you buy it in book form
I commend you on researching though and not taking a comment at face value
Having said that though, I’m right and they’re wrong
