Soft-wash system test

I finally got everything hooked up, 7gpm Remco, 180’ of 1/2" ag hose, made sure no kinks.

This was one minute’s worth. Something isn’t right. It barely shoots 15’.

That’s about right. Whole lot of friction loss in that long of hose.

Air leak somewhere, check all your fittings.

Ok on the subject of leaks, I’ve tried teflon tape and thread sealant but neither seen to work very well. Is there something better?

I think Rick was getting 40’ from the same setup.:person_shrugging:t3:

I was referring to the GPM.

He’s getting 40’ on 1gpm? I’m not expecting 7gpm, but 4 seems reasonable. Guys wash roofs all day long with these…

I use true blue sealant. I get 40-45 feet about 3 gallons or so per minute after 200’ plus of hose….

Have you really run it to be sure 100% of the air is out? Sounds like a suction leak to me.

Air leak, hose still on reel or blockage somewhere.

Show us how you have it set up brock, we’re just blindly guessing here staring at a container of water.

I will get some pics when I get home.

Basically it’s hose reel, pump 2’ away, short hose to proportioner on wall, 1/2" hose on dip stick into vertical water tank.

I may have to re-seal the proportioner, hard to say where air is getting in.

My guess would be that ball valve you use for water.

I’d put money on air leak at proportioner. When I first set mine up performance was horrible. Only one noticable leak. I had taped everything so I went back and retaped and glued. Wasn’t much better. So I got some water weld and did every connection. Problem solved.

I also stick my surfactant drop stick in a bucket of water if I’m not using it to ensure I’m not pulling air past the valve.

Is water weld permanent?

I’ll try swapping out the ball valve for a straight connector and see what happens.

Super ugly but completely sealed now.

I think it is meant to be. I’m sure you could get it off and apart. Minus the pentair valves, it would probably just be less of a headache and cheap enough to just replace.

What did you end up using? It definitely isn’t as ugly as mine haha

That stuff you recommended, Water Weld. Man that stuff is thick.

Oh, well you did a much better job then I did. I was getting irritated and just caked it on. And yeah it can be a pain to get it mixed and applied with out getting it all over.

Interesting work on the unit today…

I had a short 2’ hose going from the proportioner to the pump. For some weird reason it kept showing air in it, a lot of it. A couple hours of frustration trying to figure out how the heck it was getting in there, I said the heck with it and tossed the SH hose into the water tank as well and hey, it got prime and the gun was shooting about 40+ feet.:flushed:

I measured it around 3gpm like Donny mentioned.

Now the one way valves seem to come unscrewed pretty easily, are they supposed to be sealed or serviced somehow?
