Nice edit. What I said was black doesn’t damage metal or plastics. You should call Clorox and tell them to quit putting bleach in those plastic bottles. You’re a strange dude, but that’s ok. It takes all types. I’ve never had bleach destroy my equipment, but that’s just me, and everyone else

I see there are a lot SH industry plants on this site. Keep paying for new equipment fellas. I’m actually in the air about to land in Atlanta for fun in the city because of all the money I’ve saved just from this week alone.

She’s a little loopy right now. Probably going to be a long recovery but nothing life threatening so that’s the good news. At 72 she’s still a decade younger than @Racer probably, so she has relative youth on her side.

Semawy or whatever your name is since you didn’t bother to introduce yourself, your math is way off. I love SPC and it definitely has it’s uses and environmentally has some advantages over SH for certain uses. However in our business it has certain disadvantages compared to SH.
First is the shelf life once it’s mixed - you have 4-5 hours max.
2nd - It dissolves much better with warm water which many contractors don’t have access to, especially on a job site.
3) I don’t know where you’re getting it for $1.35/lb - buying it 240 lbs at a time with shipping my cost is around $4/lb for good quality. 40lbs makes a 50 gal drum full at 8oz powdered per gal, so your actual cost per gal is very similar to SH and the PH is is about 15% less than SH
4) You can’t downstream it and it be effective, so it has to be applied directly. For small jobs or roofs that can work and when it starts to break down the byproduct is Soda Ash which works very well as a degreaser.
5) The math is kicking your tail - for equivalent cleaning power 1 $4 lb of of SPC equals about 1.5 gal of cleaning liquid - the same $4 gal of SH will convert comparably into 12gal of cleaning liquid so when you do the math your cost is approximately 8 times the cost of using SH.
6) Dwell time - another disadvantage of the SPC is that to work effectively it needs to dwell approx 15min to work effectively at full strength. There’s a reason you have to keep moist for that long and also if you used in laundry detergent it’s recommended you let dirty clothes soak for hours. So when you’re washing a house can be a problem.
7) SPC is corrosive to certain metals, though not nearly as many as SH
As an older dude, one thing I’ve learned in life is try to make sure you have your facts lined up before you try to argue your subject. If you want to use SPC in all your washing endeavors, more power to you. But don’t come on here espousing that it’s more economical. In some parts of the country you may be able to fine people willing to pay the premium for the cost difference.
Also, since you’re in Atlanta, you should run by Georgia Tech while you’re there. They have a world class chemistry department there and I’m sure you could probably find some advanced student who could lay all of this out for you in very scientific terms. I spent way too many hours of my life there suffering through organic chemistry.

Wow, sorry to hear that. Glad she’s going to be ok. She and your Dad in for a long 6-7 weeks, though. When they tell her it’s going to take a full year to recover completely, believe them. And make sure she goes to ALL her therapy, unlike others I may know. Tell her the best looking dude in SC sends her well wishes.

As far as SH destroying plastic, that’s a bunch of crap. This is the all-plastic injector I use to downstream SH. I run straight 12.5% through it for every job and change the screw in orifice if I need to change the strength. I’ve used the same two for over 2 years now with zero issues. I don’t even fully rinse them after a job, just pull the hose and let it suck air for a few seconds. Hundreds of houses and they still work perfectly.
