My mil was the association President in a small retirement development. One owner bought a lot and hadn’t built on it. If the natural grass was over 2" they would have the association attorney write the owner a demand letter. Lol. Later after she was no longer President she painted her house a rather annoying turquoise. There’s was no issue with it but it seemed strange. We live in a suburban development from the mid 90s. Technically there is an HOA but it was never organized. Residents here are pretty low key.
The most ridiculous case I have heard of with HOA. And I’m sure one of you guys can beat this… but all front yards that were not grassed and apart of the lawn had to be pine straw. The pine straw had to be bought from the same company. I’m sure whoever made up that rule has a close connection to the one and only pine straw vendor they are “allowed” to use… smh!
I’m sure he is a millionaire by now

One thing i like about HOA the make home owners to get there roofs clean. Bad for home owners , good for pw company.
