She's alive!

Changed plans a little, leaving the truck out of the equation, throwing a 40-50 aux tank in between the cab and buffer tank to run the burner and engine. Can’t wait!!! Just need to get this little beast off the milk crate and up in a truck now.

Mine is only 37hp all the 50ish hp models were much bigger than I needed. I need to be able to drive around on grass without hurting it . I’m pushing it now with what I have

That’s great to hear! I should be good w/ 40 for sure then, even if I have a bigger commercial job on the weekend. Thanks!

Had a 28hp Kubota 30 years ago that we worked the heck out of. Used on construction projects, landscaping company, maintained 40 acres with it. Did everything we asked of it w/o a whimper. One of the best things I’ve ever bought. Still ticked at myself for selling it after 10 years.

I know the feeling. When you have trust in something from years of good service it becomes more than just a tool . That’s the main reason I keep my old 7.3 . I know 100 percent I would regret trading it in for one of the fancy new trucks.

Good call, my fancy Duramax is getting a turbo right now at 80k miles. It’s already had DEF issues too.

433464 miles and counting. It did get a trans last month though.

Got the exhaust and engine mounts fabbed today. Still waiting on the radiator to come and my truck to get out of the shop with the new turbo before I can build the frame and start mounting things.

I’m going to fab up 4 jacks like a travel trailer to get it in and out when needed. I’ll post pics of that later.

Burner is in, the thing’s a beast, seems like largo did a great job so far.

Overall, I’m extremely happy with the noise level and simplicity of this thing. It’s required a ton of fab, but that’s what I like.
Hope to see some more diesel setups out there someday, I’m definitely doing every build with one from now on when I expand.

Is that a VW Rabbit in the background?

Yup! 84, 3L VR6 turbo going in the back as a mid engine.

Here’s a kinda recent shot of what in the front, decided to change directions and use that red Jetta in the back for the subframe and stick all of that in the back.

Nice! I figured you were a water cooled VW guy with the other ones parked in the driveway

Ya, die hard VW guy, have air cooled too, but mostly water.

Nice!. Buddy had a 71 bug with ej207 and a tdo6 strapped to it, about 380hp on standard internals, made his Audi rs6 at the time look like a corolla. Rear engine with paddle shift DSG would be nice! You know you want to, don’t lie to me now son.

Ya, I’ve been trying to find a cheaper way to get a Subaru in the back of my 71 for a while. The trans is so expensive. Someday.
And ya, I did price out the DSG swap, my standalone will control it. Problem is building one at this power level. I can build the 5 speed so much cheaper, low boost will be around 500-600, not sure what it’ll be cranked yet. When I blow the trans I’m going dog box straight cut, it’ll make some cool sounds. :joy:

There beefing up DSG’s every year it seems, still no replacement for a dog box. I had a PPG gearset in my gc8 sti many years ago, it was the only option for the weak 5 speeds till the GD chassis came out with the 6 speed, little better but still breakable on a good limiter launch lol. Keep us posted :+1:

Ya, the new 7 speeds are tough as hell, also expensive. I had one in my S4, it was an incredible piece of machinery. I’ll post an off topic when I get it all welded up in back and started.

FINALLY got the trailer and truck back, got some stuff bolted down, etc… first shakedown run! Still need to wrap up the wiring, the 12v system, downstream stuff, etc… but she’s spraying water!

You guys were invaluable, this site was my main source of info… can’t offer enough thanks.
