I have been shopping insurance carriers one after the next. Getting a quote for ground work is straight forward. Once I even mention drizzling water on a roof, or god forbid I say walk on it, it all goes south and the premium skyrockets.
Are these guys doing a spray and pray on these roofs and are not actually insured to touch the roof? Or are they truly insured to work on the roof and are paying these sky high premiums that do cover the roof work…?
I’ve heard that voluntary property damage is CCC but when I gave my agent a scenario that CCC would cover, he said that the involuntary property damage wouldn’t cover it… so I’m lost for words
CCC is care/custody/control. It is also called other things by different carriers, but if you ask for it they’ll know what it means. It covers you for any damage you do to a structure or its surrounding areas. If you can get Erie Insurance, they’re the bee’s knees. I pay just over $1k per year, no roof exclusion (including walking it), with coverage to $2mm total and $1m per occurance.
To clarify: I’m allowed to walk and clean roofs on residential structures up to 3 stories
Many of the insurance companies you guys mention don’t cover South Florida so that is my challenge… I can get coverage but nobody wants me touching a roof. Frustrating to say the least. They make it so hard for a guy who actually wants to be legit…
The odds are already against me in filing a claim. Being in South Florida doesn’t help. I’ve had agents say we don’t even write for that area because of hurricanes and insurance fraud. (J Walters, Next, Erie,) Hiscox gave me a fair quote but doesn’t cover roof or commercial…
Sometimes I love Florida, other times want to move to the mountains! I’ve been driving my agent crazy he probably thinks I a neurotic lunatic.
