Roof Systems, Help me decide

I run 3/4 recirculating hose with the AR30. You can definitely change the barb size. I run 1/2” Q Spray hose on the reel.

I run 3/4 blue tiger flex. Its a little softer and will give a little with heat. As far as the 5/8 hose you do get more flow. But its not enough to justify dragging 5/8 around. Its definitely not faster. But the gas roof pumps are definitely effected by draw. In my opinion. If you are making long runs from tank or have a bunch of remote valves it definitely effects performance and you may need that 5/8. For me its not worth it

I agree with the 5/8. What I have on my gas unit and I hate it. Sucker a pain going up a 32’ ladder with it. Heavy and kinks more than 1/2". Of course part of that is I don’t have an electric reel on that unit, lol.

So you run 3/4" on your recirculating hose?

Yes 3/4 recirculate line
1/2 flexzilla discharge line. I take that to my local shop and have male threaded ends pressed on then 1/2 stainless gc. I have it set up so I can run my 6.8 12v and use the same hose

I tested 5/8 flex tech on the AR30 yesterday and actually saw a little less distance than my 1/2” hose. Didn’t bucket test it but I will. That surprised me because switching from 1/2 to 5/8 on the AR45 was a big increase in flow and distance.

The d30 flows less volume and more psi. Is why

That was my thoughts that the psi overcame the friction loss.

I like boosters. I have one powered by a generator and one powered by a small kohler engine. Definitely has a learning curve and diffusers can crack easily and trip your generator but if the pump is accessible it’s a really easy rebuild.

Hooking that up to a remote for soap/rinse makes these incredibly efficient. Some people don’t like boosters on roofs due to the flow but I personally love it and it makes quick work of any job.

Pws recently swapped their diffusers out to match the impellers. Putting those new ones on I have had zero issues since April and ran it every single day for any job. I also run a little muriatic through the pump every couple weeks and that seems to help; I’m on wells constantly.

Thank you for the response! Are your boosters 3/4or 1hp? What generator do you recommend? What remote system has enough flow for the boosters? Which mixing valve do you like?

@Nashvillewash Both of mine are 1hp. Both are ran on pws proportioners and the one ran on a generator has the high flow pp. The high flow pp is nice but it is also more difficult to dial it in exactly and definitely goes through more sh.

I’m not sure on what the minimum requirement is for generators ran on booster, I think some guys have 3500 but I know I have a Honda 5000 which is incredible especially with blue tooth added in; you can be on a roof and start it or shut it down. I also have a predator 8750 inverter and it’s worked fine too. Both of these newer generators have a built in c/o sensor which can suck unless the exhaust is positioned vertically and away from all the equipment.

I just use the pws’s control wizard which uses a banjo electronic valve. When flowing well these things are right there with the 8gpm. Hope that helps.

I’ve heard nothing but horror stories on the gas pumps leaking and having nothing but issues. I’m still running 12v and wouldn’t mind making the leap to something else as well, but after hearing all the stories it has made me just stick to the 12v.

Same here.

I’ve run the P40, AR45 and AR30. No issues with any of them. My preference so far is the AR30. For the P40 or AR45 use a 5/8 hose. AR30 has the PSI to run a 1/2” hose.

I have zero problems with mine. But its not hard to be on the other side of that coin. I have seen lots of rocket scientist and these so called Facebook stars just trash them in weeks because they think they know how to wash with it. You can’t wash with it the way you downstream. As far as roof Cleaning goes the ar25 seam to be way more practical

I’m not bashing them, I have no experience with them at all. I’ve just been hearing a lot about them lately. Glad you guys aren’t having any issues. I have enough issues I don’t need any additional! You mentioned not washing the same way you downstream, what do you mean exactly. And like I said, I have ZERO experience with them so have no clue about running them at all. Just curious what you meant by that comment.

Why the 25 over the 45?

The ar25 is a 6.8 gpm its just more practical if your application rate is high % low gpm

So for a roof only situation, the 25 is the one. Less drift and over spray?

If I was going to use it ina roof only situation yes I would get the ar25 and run it on a gx160. The ar45 will do everything but its alot. Now you can turn it down. But if your running a roof only/driveway application kinda thing I would definitely go with the 25, I run min off a 3/8 line i may have video

@Firefighter4hire Anthony, is this the AR25 that you are talking about? Or is there another version? Annovi Reverberi AR252-GR-GCI3/4 650 RPM Semi-Hydraulic Two Diaphragm Pump
