Well said. Rock on

Hey I just saw your cheat sheet for roof mix. Can you explain the mix ratio ? You have a 55gal x10%.
What is the first number for? I did a roof for a customer with a 50 gal mix . Which consisted of 30 gal water 20 gal chlorine at 10%sh and greenwash.
I sprayed it and left it for the rain to rinse. To this date the customer hasn’t been satisfied. Black streaks are still there. So I have been hesitant in cleaning roofs.

1st # is gal of bleach I’d add to get the % I need

@clearshine not sure what the greenwash is but ur mix was about 4% u may have to go to a higher % …any pics?

How do you get that percentage? The greenwash is the surfactant from softwashsystems.

20 gals of bleach divided by 50 tank size = , then times the sh% bleach ur using = %

So if u have 50 gal tank. 20/50=0.4 now 0.4 x .10=4%

And that greenwash sounds more for house wash mix roofs. U need more of a clinging like cling on

Ok, I think I understand now. So what percentage should be used on roofs ? For example shingles and cedar shake. Also is roof snot better than cling and how much should I put in the mix?

Really the 4% should have done it. Cling on and roof snot pretty much same thing from what iv seen everyone saying on here… Maybe u can find some answers in some of these post

This one here may have a Lil more info in it

Thanks for the info. I have a 7.5 gallon per minute 12v. Fat boy system with two four bangers. What is the difference between using a ball valve sprayer and the original plastic applicator?

Soft wash roof costs?

Where do you live? 20 gals of 12.5 and 40 gal of water will give you a nice low 3% mix which is what most asphalt shingles will need. Add about $8 of snotmenade, how do you figure your costs at $260. I figure my mix runs just under $1 per gallon…

Mega church update

About 7 - 8 min is sweet spot. Just for kicks mix up a small batch, say 10 gal. 3 SH and 7 water and add more soap. If you’ve got some roof snot use it 1 oz per gal, if not bump up the elemonator a good bit. You’ll save some money using less bleach…

@clearshine, Rick can probably answer that one for u… @Racer

We have a newer product called Slo Mo that is SUPER THICK and SH stable. You need only 4-8 oz per 100 gallons of recipe. You can downstream with it using less than 1/2 oz per 5 gallons of mix. Slo Mo rinses clean from windows, is biodegradable and inexpensive!

One bucket takes the place of 4—6 buckets of Hang Tite, Snot, and Cling. If you truly want a fragrance, we tell you where to buy them. Go directly to the manufacturer and ask for Free samples and add as much fragrance as you like to your mix, choose your favorites and concoct your own at a huge savings. Chemistry, Horizon Aromatics, Florachem and Nilum are the fragrance manufacturers that are supplying the SH Stable fragrances such as lemonade, apple and fresh scents.

Slo Mo will work with the mixing valves and proportioners on the market. We offer it in 5 gallon containers. Did you know that Pressure Washer Products introduced SH Stable surfactants years ago to pressure washers and softwashers!

Lori, I look forward to buying 5 gal from you just as soon as I use up my Klingon. I hope it rinses off better than THAT stuff, At such small mixing ratios, it can’t help BUT rinse off better.

Good day all, i am from South Africa and would like to know more about soft washing. I have been doing research but getting a lot of conflicting information. Here in SA. are no soft wash suppliers so all my info. is collected from the web. I have started making up a skid and found a Delavan 7870 12v pump and the following nozzles ,0015 1515 4015 recommended by the pump supplier. Chemical i have used 12.5 SH but just cant get it to work properly. I did some testing on a asbestos shingle roof not sure on how to do a proper mix ratio. If there is some one out there that would be able to help me it would be greatly appreciated as i am greener as greenwash when it comes to soft washing. Kind regards Wayne.

Wayne, welcome.

Those nozzles are going to COOK your pump. It should sound like it’s under a lot of stress compared to just Erving the nozzles and running it wide open.

Did they sell you an accumulator?
I wouldn’t use those nozzles. Instead, buy a 1/4” mpt hose barb x 1/4 hose barb or smaller barb and install it into one of the JROD ports. You can make a fan out of the barb if you hit it or crush it. Guys in Australia are very resourceful and use them when they are sick of paying $20–25 per meg nozzle.
Please forgive my laziness in not converting the ID’s. I recommend you use a minimum of a 1/2” or 5/8” inner diameter hose no longer than 300’. Shorter is better with 12 Volt Pumps. You need 0040 or maybe 0035 and at least 2540 or 2535 and your other favorite spray patterns in 35 and 40 orifices. You will use more chem but your pump, that you pay more than the $175 we charge here for, will run cooler and last longer.
Use a 1” non-collapsible suction hose and our original slotted PVC filter and slightly upsized wiring with a large deep cycle marine battery charged daily for a better outcome.

Lori has some good info, but didn’t answer your question. If you’ve got 12.5% SH, start out mixing roughly, doesn’t have to be exact, 1/3 SH and the rest water. Don’t know what you have for surfactant over there, but you need something, bleach friendly. Usually about an ounce per gal of mix is a starting point.

You should start to see the roof stains disappear in less than 10 minutes. 5-7 minutes good. If taking longer than 10, unless a really bad spot, strengthen you SH % a little. Shouldn’t have to go over 40% on asphalt shingles.

Good day Rick thank you for getting back to me. Regarding the SH mix i will
have to find out from my chem.suppl. what he would recommend that is bleach
friendly. Can i get clarity on the mix. Lets say i go 40%sh,60%water my
neutrailiser do i have to ad a soap for cling as well. Lori did get back to
me just to find out i had the wrong nozzles and i was blaming the battery
the hole time. Ordering the recommended ones asp. and have to see for a
accumulator as well. Like i said now support base here. Regards Wayne.

Hi Lori. Had a look at the nozzle chart out of the 4 sets which 4 would you
recommend. I have made up a jrod on a 1/2 " hose. No accumulator getting 1
asap. as the pump shop did not even know what i were talking about when i
told them that i want to use the pump for roof washing. My skid needs more
work done than i thought. Regards Wayne

How old is your skid @reviveSA

Cody was under the perception that it is done butt to find out i still need to do a bit of work on it. With in just a few days i got some good advice from Lori to add a accumulator and more. I will post photos.
