Push in right direction

This is stupid question but how would I would have to find a 5.5 3000 and buy a separate motor? I’m confused on that part

You can get a pre-built machine with a gx630 and a belt driven 5.5/5.6 @ 3500. You’ll pay a good bit more for it.

I think @dcbrock ran one for awhile (or is still running one?)

Buy the motor then buy the pump. You can use a direct drive, gear drive, or belt drive. Some places sell pumps with gear drives attached then it’s 4 bolts to attach to the motor.

Typically expect 5.5GPM 2500PSI with a GX390 above that you’d want a GX630 or GX690

What would you suggest to get if I’m planing on doing flatwork and siding this year and then add soft washing (12v) next year?

I’ll look around for that, that would be my best bet to buy ?

You can soft wash with a pressure washer. It’s all about selecting the correct nozzles so you’re putting out low pressure. Most soft wash with our pressure washer and down stream because it’s more efficient than using a 12v.

When I do roofs and have to rinse I just rinse with my pressure washer. Low pressure of course.

I meant when soft washing with a 12v for roofing, my bad. I’m trying to figure out what 5.5 GPM 3000 PSI PW to get and what motor I should get based on the comments in this thread. I’m a bit confused, do you have any suggestions sir?

How are you confused. It’s been answered about 4 times. Under 3000 psi get a GX390, over 3000 psi get the gx630.

I don’t mean to frustrate you sir, like I said I’m confused on rigging a motor to the pressure washer that’s the part I’m not sure on

Also, I asked what PSI everyone thought was a good idea because I knew I was getting 5.5GPM but it was the difference between 2,500 PSI+

What am I missing here? If you want a machine with 5.5gpm and over 3000 psi. Get a Honda gx630 with a decent 5.5gpm pump. The the rigging part depends on if your going belt drive or gear drive. Specs of the equipment stay the same just the drive variation is different.

I was referring to the comment that said the switch was at 2500 not 3000, that’s where my confusion comes from. Do you have a preference between belt or gear?

Oh does he have a preference hahaha #gearwars2020

It’s open for debate. I know some guys have bought the 5.5@3000 gx390 machines and have been happy. I don’t understand how they can really put out the advertised specs, but I don’t know everything.

All I’ve really got to go on is the accepted power formula: psi*gpm/1100. That comes out to 15hp for a 5.5@3000. Whereas it’s only 12.5hp required for a 5.5@2500. The gx390 puts out an accepted 11-12ish HP, but is advertised by Honda as a 13hp motor.

I bought a 5.5@2500 with the 390, from a company known to stretch their specs a bit. So I can’t quite wrap my head around how companies are now building machines with the same exact hardware and selling them as 5.5@3000’s. Maybe they really do put out those figures. I just feel it makes sense to bump up to a larger motor if you really need 3000 psi reliably for flatwork and such.

But like I said before, you will pay up front for that bigger motor. Here’s one example (for the record, I’m not necessarily recommending this reseller, they have a spotty history):

https://shop.pressurewasherproducts.com/SKID-COLD-55-GPM-3500-PSI-PRESSURE-WASHER-S-VB5535HGEA084TF-PWS-VB5535HGEA084TF.htm

Vs their “5.5@3000”:

Granted, there are a number of upgrades on the pricier machine: powdercoated steel frame, electric start, block mounted k7 unloader, etc.

For a solid softwash/surface work a 5.5GPM 3000PSI with a 630 will last me though and is a good decent choice to go with in your opinion? This is a dumb question but would I remove the motor the PW uses or would I attach the motor separate?

You’ve got two routes to go: prebuilt machine, or build your own. Based on your questions, I think you’ll be happier with a prebuilt machine. It should require only the most basic assembly (hooking up to a buffer tank, making sure there’s oil in it, etc.)

But if I bought the 5.5 3000 would all I have to do is replace the motor and then i can use a buffer tank etc? I’m sorry, thank you. The 5.5 3000 are sold out from the sites I found

No, forget the 5.5@3000. Just buy a prebuilt machine: 5.5@3500 with a gx630 already on it.
