Pros, cons and advice-V6 full size truck

Those sprinters are sweet! But holy hell are they proud of them! Any pictures of your layout ?

Let me find the thread I did on here a while back. I never realized how many people convert them for camping/living in until I hopped on a Sprinter fb group. There’s a waiting list for the new 4x4 Sprinters every year all over the globe.

Here it is

What exactly is horrible gas mileage in the 4.8? I have one and its not bad in my book. No question lacks get up and go. But its fine for my needs

Thanks! Got a 28” big guy up on that wall now too. Those hooks made for hanging bikes from joists are great for hanging stuff.

I know exactly what’s wrong with it. my 95 12 valve dually does the exact same thing @SurfaceTherapy. It’s an easy fix.

@Hotshot I am questioning your response to this lol. But do tell…

It’s all relative to what your comparing it to i guess, it would be crap compared to a Honda Civic but great compared to a viper.

You need a chauffeur, because there’s a loose nut behind the wheel. Ahh yucka, yucka

Sorry man I couldn’t resist.
Don’t sell the old turd , you’ll regret it in the long run. Nothing pulls like um anymore. I just keep slapping rebuilt trannys in mine every other year for $1500 and get a bigger torque converter every time. you’ll get it figured out buddy.

I knew I was going to get that type of answer. Ha

Man I hope I get it figured…sure is frustrating.

Your on the dodge forums I’m assuming right,Tons of good Intel on them. if you ever get a opportunity to get a swap kit to get rid of the auto tranny, do it, Auto transmission is dodges achilles heel in the gen 2 and 3’s . Other than that there rock solid in my book. And if you do sell it ,give me the first opportunity please.

Are the trannys no good on them? Or you just wear them out?

The automatic transmission’s just don’t have the sac to hold up to the Cummins torque. I get around 60 / 70 thousand outta mine. And others around here have the same problem. I do haul alot, it’s my farm/cattle hauler and hauls my other wash rig into the local quarries when needed. so I do abuse it. I got the P pump turned up on the star wheel and filed off my fuel plate and a KN air system, But that only gave it about another 50 horse. other than that its stock with 410’s. Ppl have the manual transmission have the best of both worlds but good luck finding one.

I will definitely give you first shot if I do decide to sell it. I am in a couple 5.9 groups on Facebook, that is about it. You have a recommendation for a solid forum?

Try these guys @SurfaceTherapy , Pretty decent and informative folks

@Hotshot good to know! Down here every man and his dog has a boat, with the hilly terrain, transmission coolers are almost compulsory for towing a 2+ tonne boat. If it’s pulled to the side on a steep hill you can guarantee the trannys overheated. I see it all the time. I’m a stick shift man myself but man some of these newer autos are getting nicer to drive.

I’d do a V8 flatbed …

Currently have 2500 4.8 Chevy express… no complaints hauls my trailer just fine… best It does is 14mpgs I’m okay with that

Ha ha yeah I can do the math @MuscleMyHustle and I understand gvm/gcm etc
I was tongue in cheek regarding why someone engineers and build a truck that cant haul anything.
Show pony trucks.

@AUSSIE it’s a new trend :joy:. A guy that works for me bought a brand new ranger a couple years ago, fitted it out with a lift kit, matte black vinyl wrap, massive mud tires, winch, tent on the roof you name it he’s got it. Guess what? It’s never left the tarmac since he’s owned it :joy:, reckons he’s looking after it.
