Pressure Washer Dying When Engaging Ball Valve

While you’re working on it, replace that incoming hose when you put it back together with non-collapsible hose.

Yep try and start it. If it starts let it run for a minute. MAKE SURE YOUR WATER IS HOOKED UP. If it starts fine and water flows out the pump put the unloader back on and test it again.
If it’s still tough to pull with no unloader remove the belts to determine if it’s the pump or engine. Hopefully you won’t have to go that far

I hope you are right! I am about to head over to the shop, and will update once I have tried to start it.

Spray wd40 into every orfice in the unloader before you reinstall it

Ok the pressure washer ran fine without the unloader installed. I’m reinstalling everything now and will update and see how it goes.

Turn the knob on the unloader counter clockwise to take some of the tension off the spring, then readjust your pressure if it starts by passing. Maybe just stuck.

@roofer @florida_condo_cleani @Innocentbystander well after hooking the unloader back up. Same issue. Runs fine, but as soon as I engage the ball valve it shuts off. What’s the next step? I can get an unloader locally if ya’ll think it needs to just be replaced.

Unloader is likely bad . It’s probably not out of adjustment that bad . It’s likely not going into bypass

Yeah I am actually at my supplier now. Any reccomendation? I’m thinking pressure trapping. It will also depend on what they have in stock. I at least need something to get me by for jobs this week.

@florida_condo_cleani ok I got the new unloader installed. Two questions. 1) the bypass was on the other side on the old unloader does that matter? Looks like they are interchangeable. 2) these hex screws on the side and bottom, should they be tightened all the way?

Likely you could use either side . Both should be labeled bypass. And yes you want them tight. But not necessary to be super tight since it the low pressure side

Yeah both are labeled bypass. Thanks! I’m going to get everything re-connected and try to set this unloader.
