Pressure Washer Dying When Engaging Ball Valve

If it worked before and all you did was move it . It’s probably nothing serious. Change it if you want but you probably won’t need to. WD40 does wonder on stuck valves

Yeah everything worked great before and I haven’t changed a thing about the plumbing or layout. Thanks for the advice!

where is the inlet filter?

I took it off to achieve maximum flow to the pressure washer. I did this based on the advice of many well respected members of this forum. I have two bowl filters on my trailer. One is on my supply line before the buffer tank, and a second one is between my buffer tank and my pressure washer.

Just curious if you took the unloader off to see if that freed up the engine?

Haven’t tried yet. I will update this thread once I do to see if it freed up the engine. If not, I will definitely be asking you guys all of the next steps I need to take.

Just make sure you don’t let go of the trigger if you run it without the unloader.

If I leave it on an open ball valve it should be fine correct?

Edit: Blind leading the blind

Gotcha! Definitely don’t want to do that! That’s the last thing I need haha

No. Don’t let go of the trigger without an unloader or you will have pump shrapnel all over the place.

Just take the unloader off. Don’t hook anything back up . Hose / gun / anything. Let it blow rite out the pump. This way there is no chance of damaging anything.
There won’t be any pressure. There will just be flow

Somehow after saying don’t hook anything up to the pump . I still feel like your going to hook something back up . So DONT do anything other than remove the unloader and all hoses with it .
Only thing that should be attached to the pump is your supply hose

Just curious why that would happen. Does the unloader regulate pressure and by taking it off it would spike in a very high pressure destroying it?

Yes all of that . It would distroy the pump . That’s why I said don’t put anything back on. This will eliminate the possibility of hurting the pump.

I thought it’s was just for bypassing the water and gave you the “option” of adjusting pressure. Not that it was a necessary piece to keep your pressure under control

Ya I get what you are saying about that.

The unloader unloads pressure buildup and dumps it into bypass. Always be careful about what advice is given. An exploding pump can kill.

Ok I have the unloader off. @florida_condo_cleani you can see nothing is connected except the hose on the inlet of the pump. So at this point I need to just try and start it and see what happens correct? How long should I let it run? Should I be watching for anything?

Start it . You just want to see if the pump is locked or if you have the unloader backward or something else
