Pool essentials 10% discontinued?

I still don’t have an SH supplier so I’ve been buying pool essentials 10% in bulk from Walmart and Lowe’s but today neither store has any on their shelves. All the products were rearranged and there was new stuff in place of it. Anyone else notice this or is just a local thing?

It’s a seasonal item. They stop stocking it at some point. Find a pool store and get the 5 gallon jugs they have of chlorine. Its 12.5% just make sure its fresh…

That’s what they look like. I’m in the pool industry so I get them real cheap. But any pool store will have these.

I’ve been to every pool store in a 30 mile radius and not a single one carries liquid chlorine. Thanks though.

I actually have found a local chem company that will sell me a 55 gal drum at about $4 a gallon but I mostly wash fleet so I don’t need it that often and don’t have a great place to store a drum of chlorine anyways.

I work at Lowe’s, you can get with a Specialist that works in the plumbing Dept like me and pre purchase it.
He can call his product support specialist and have it shipped fresh to the store.
If you’re a veteran you’ll get 10% off and or use a Lowe’s card instead of cash and get 5% off every purchase.

I don’t really understand how it is possible that a pool store would not have liquid chlorine? Are you asking for sh? Is there perhaps some miscommunication? Every pool shop I have been in I just walk in with my container and ask for a refill.

Pool supply stores in my area don’t carry it either so your not the only one. I did find a chem company that carries it. Its not cheap, but it nice and fresh.

They all carry tablets or powder. No liquid.

The same around here, most are pushing the tabs and powder. Hard to find liquid. Unless I want to make a road trip to a chemical factory and purchase 55 gallon drums.

$4 a gallon for 55? Where do you live?

I’m in Texas and most pool stores carry SH here but it’s overpriced and usually old. I think it just doesn’t well so many places just don’t bother with it over tablets and powder.

Mississippi. I think the exact quote was around 3.80. not great but it’s about what I pay for the pool essentials bottles.

Wow I cant imagine that either ! Theres a ton of places up here in New York and they ALL sell the liquid chlorine. The big 5 gallon jugs are always 12.5% and the freshness varies depending on the pool store selling it to you… but off the top of my head I can think of 3 places minimum I can go and get that stuff from right now at 830 PM if I wanted to. That’s rough buddy :slightly_frowning_face:

Same here. And I am in Ajax, Canada. Freshness varies, but there is no lack of availability. Wonder why tablets and powder are more popular in the south???

Leslies pool supply no longer carries it around middle tennessee believe it or not. Walmart replaced the pool essentials shock with a non chlorine based chemical. Lame.

Wow, that sucks. I guess I better get a chem manufacturer supplier before my pool shops stop carrying sh! Is this a trend?

Yes its a trend. Much easier to sell tri-chlor or bi-chlor. Safer for everyone, doesnt really go bad, shipping is cheaper, no drums left over to deal with.

Hot weather and bright sun = it goes bad fast and people tend to leave their pool supplies outdoors.
