Not pulling water

Got all my plumbing hooked up and tried to prime to pump it didnt work. Cranked the machine and still no water. I checked my filter and its ran the right way. I unhooked the water hose right at the inlet of my machine and its flowing great lots of water. Not sure if this has anything to do with it but i did put my bypass on the other side of my unloader.

Need a little more info, Grizz.

Pics of your setup? Is this a direct drive pump?

Thats my helper. He cant figure it out either

Belt drive 4gpm 4000psi

Unscrew your thermal relief plug on the pump and see if you get a good flow from it. It should let 7+ gpm pass through with the way you have everything plumbed. If it doesn’t, then you have some type of restriction between the tank and pump inlet

Also, did you know that you can switch the plumbing on the pump around, so that the inlet can go where the relief is, and the unloader can also go on the opposite side? Pretty neat. Not strictly necessary in your case, though.

I thought about that but wasnt sure so i didnt try.

Im getting great flow from it flowing like a hose pipe

Sounds like you just needed to get all the air out of your plumbing. Probably a few more pulls on the cord would’ve done it :smirk:

Awesome. If you haven’t installed it already, I would try putting your hudson valve in the lid of the tank (just make sure to drill a couple small holes for venting). Should get a couple more gallons out of it that way. If you’re clever enough, you can install it without using a bulkhead, just run the pipe/fitting through the hole and thread the valve onto the the fitting on the other side. That’ll give you another gallon or two.

Always force feed a dry pump with garden hose pressure until you get a good flow out of pump head

Really not necessary with a belt drive. But not a bad idea with a direct drive.

Also, sounds like Grizz had done that, already. It was air in his plumbing that was holding him up from getting the prime he wanted. Removing the relief plug eliminated the air in the plumbing.

Yes i have a hudson on the way in the mail. I been outside washing my house. I really nees that value got tired of running back and forth to turn water off and on.

Ya i must of had a airlock in it or in the plumbing. Letting water run out of that valve let it escape.
