No bleach?

Ok great, that is one piece of advise I would not have thought to search for.

and still have not introduced yourself or let us know where you are from!??

Sorry. I am Dan from Daphne Alabama I run a window cleaning business ShineBright Windows. Iā€™m going to log on my computer and complete my profile after my morning coffee and smoke.

Hey ShineBright, good to have you over here. I can understand your hesitation in charging full price when youā€™re just starting a new service. But this is probably a little different than when you started window cleaning. You have a base knowledge of how to run your business. You have a wealth of know-how at your fingertips on this forum and others. If youā€™ve done your research (which it sounds like youā€™re still working on, but are on your way) thereā€™s no reason your first PW job canā€™t be an awesome success. I know mine was. Professional results combined with a professionally operated business = professional pricing, IMHO. And professional pricing allows room for better equipment, be it a rental unit, or a good used professional machine.

I didnā€™t push the PWā€™ing hard this year, so I was still using a rental machine right up until our season effectively ended with the cold weather. The machine cost me nearly $70/day, but it was worth it because I was charging enough to justify the expense. And it was 1000x better than blowing a few hundred $ on an underperforming HomeCheapo rig.

they tell you not to use bleach because they want you to buy their ineffective soaps

So I can put bleach in the soap dispenser and in reality I wonā€™t damage the pump? I thought that might be the case but since Iā€™m new to this I do not want to damage anything.

You canā€™t do that. It will destroy the pump.

If you are downstreaming then you can use bleach.

They have wands with containers attached near the tipā€¦ put the bleach there and it will mix with the water

Down streaming is after the pump so you will be fine. Upstreaming is before the pump and will ruin the pump using SH.

Waste of time. Not big enough to do any kind of job that needs SH.

His washer has an attached container. It is for downstreaming.

There is some really, shall we say, interesting advice in this thread.

I was going off his first box store machine. Iā€™m reading that he took it back and bought another box store machine thatā€™s different.

This thread is a mess regardless.

Not knocking the OP in any sort of way but going that route is counterproductive. Itā€™s money spent on a machine that will give short term use. One could buy a 420cc Chonda and throw an inexpensive direct drive 4gpm unit on it for the same price as a box store unit. Use that for a year and then upgrade.

I ran the first two years with a 4gpm belt drive and did fine with it, plenty of people do. Even before starting out I knew there was no way I was running a low gpm unit after doing a ton of reading.

Hey Matty. Are you still rewiring the predator? I didnā€™t rewire the 22 hp because the wiring looked solid. I just ran the thing 6 hours today and it runs like a champ. I put together a 10 gpm 2500 psi machine for under 2K.

Yep. It already looks solid but I like everything soldered, Iā€™m just like that. It only takes 30 minutes.

I have looked all over trying to figure out how to build one myself. I swear I canā€™t find anything on any of the search engines about how to build a 10gpm yourself. Would you mind pointing me in the right direction? (Sorry for hijacking the threadā€¦just had to ask)

Large engine of you choice. 22hp predator from HF is the cheapest/newest right now. A Lifan 22hp is out there for under 1k, Iā€™m thinking that it and the HF are the same but canā€™t back that up.

Tsf2021 with belt or gear drive. A UDOR 10gpm pump with gear drive already attached is also available. Then mount to a skid of your choice.

That simple!?! Who would you recommend as a supplier? Iā€™d like to deal with Bob or Russ, of course.

One more thing. I want to go hot water when I go with a 10gpm unit. To build it myself would I just add a hot box, or would it better in that case to get a factory built unit?

Buy a 22 hp engine from harbor freight for $699(online, it is backordered, so it may be a few weeks ). Then add the 20% code in the coupon box, you can find a 20% coupon right on the website. It cost me $604 with shipping /tax. Then call a vendor and tell him what you are doing. I called Russ Johnson and he put the list together. I am using a Udor pump with the gearbox already attached. 4 bolts. You need a base, unloader, 2 foot whip line(1/2"), Unloader block, assorted fittings, a gas tank(got mine at northern tool,12 gallon $49, 6 feet of fuel hose from Oā€™Reillyā€™s auto parts), and thatā€™s about it. Bob at Pressure Tek, Russ Johnson or your favorite vendor will walk you through it. This thing ROCKS! I started up my 5.5 gpm machine the other day and thought it was broken, because it felt like a pea shooter. Oh yeah be prepared to add a second feed hose, one isnā€™t enough. With two feed hoses I havenā€™t run out of water yet.
