No bleach?

I’ll do that soon. Right now I’m just using the app. Thanks

Hey Shinebright-- according to the rules here you don’t have to state who you are…but… You would get much more responses if you filled out your signature.

Also since your new at the Pressurewashing end of your business you may want to consider joining the PWRA because you can get a ton of discounts right off the bat which will easily offset the cost of membership. Food for thought

Awesome. I will do that as soon as I get to my PC at home. Thanks so much for all the information from everyone. I have much to learn.

Without running numbers I am not sure that any downstreaming operation more advanced than a standard “black tip” to pull soap is going to work well with that machine.

That is not a contractor grade setup. Whoever said throwing money away was right.

I know it’s not contractor grade. I’m not a full on pressure washer. I am a window cleaner. I just bought this as a learner so I can get a few gigs. If I like it and it’s profitable for me as an add on. I’ll invest more into a better machine. I am only interested in residential work. I am sure this will get me started just fine so long it does the job.

you dont seem to be paying attention

  • it’s not possible to be profitable with that machine -

If this was the indy 500, you are entering with a ford pinto and expecting to place, its just not possible

Any task is going to take all day with that machine. It just doesn’t move enough water. 4gpm is barely tolerable for residential, 2.3 is is going to be a crawl and may not even shoot up two stories.

I had one of those a long time ago, it takes hours to do a driveway that would take 20 minutes with a bigger machine and surface cleaner.

I have a house where I wash the driveway and house a few times a year. I can do a 250’ driveway and 5000 Sq ft house in 5 hours going slow. They had a handyman with a similar machine do just the driveway before I came into the picture and it took him two days.

Well since I’ve already purchased it. Looks like I’m in the race with a pinto. See you on the other side. Sometimes you just gotta make due with what you got.

Do what you must to get from here to there but make sure you don’t make the decision about the profitability of this new service based on your experience with this machine. It isn’t going to provide you with an accurate snapshot of the possibilities adding the power washing service can provide. I started with rental machines then i purchased a john deere with the same specs you mentioned. Ive upgraded to 4 gpm and cant wait to get to 8. It is a tough path but if it gets you where you want to be, get started!

I started out with a 4gpm and quickly realized Gpm is king…not psi…
if you are serious about this business then listening and taking the advice from veterans who have been there before is well worth the time…return the machine and at least go with a 4 gpm that you can downstream with…there is a wealth of knowledge here, you just have to be willing to accept it

A good way to test the waters is to rent a 13hp 4gpm machine. They’re very common and most rental places have them. Daily rates are pretty cheap and you can make good money at a decent pace while you decide if it’s something you want to add on. Just buy a few good guns and 2 downstreamers setup on quick connects and a set of tips from Bob at Pressure Tek. (the ones that come on the rental machines are unreliable) The pay from 6-8 average size jobs should buy you a very nice machine later on if you decide you like the work.

If it’s not too late, I would take your machine back and go the rental route for cheaper. If it is too late, I recommend selling it and still going with the rental. The pump on that machine will not last very long and is seriously underpowered. A lot of us started out with smaller stuff than we have now. Just trying to save you a LOT of headache.

The only thing it will probably do is blast things with pressure/low flow and that’s the wrong way to clean.

Great advise and thank you. I did return it and purchases a higher psi 3100 and a slight higher gpm 2.5. It’s all I can afford right now. Even the rentals are too much for what I charge. Which is next to nothing for my inexperience. Once I make some extra money with this and gain som experience I will definitely upgrade. I will start here and move up. Just like I did with my window cleaning. I started with a few hundred dollars some squeegees. Now I run a WFP and make a rather decent living. I joined here to learn from your wealth of knowledge and experience so again thank you all for your help.

Good point. Never thought of it that way. Thanks for the input.

Thanks I will definitely do that. I did buy a different one before I read these posts. A 3100 with 2.5 gpm. I was renting a 3100 when I started with better results than the one I showed but not sure what the gpm was. I did not know the difference until I joined here it’s not too late to return my device. But I could still use it at home.

Don’t let it run longer than 5 about minutes without the the trigger pulled or it can overheat and ruin the pump. Water flowing through the pump is what keeps it from overheating and when you’re not spraying, the pump is recirculating the same water over and over and can overheat in a hurry. Just be sure to shut it off if you’re stopped for long.

first you have to be willing to search for it

I’ve been reading a lot these past few days. A little overwhelming but I’ll get it.

PSI = damaged property, wasted time and money

GPM = high quality, professional cleaning, WHEN DONE CORRECTLY

Search - read - take notes - REPEAT
