Been to Katy a couple of times Snow goose hunting. Sure is flat down there.
Used to be all rice fields. Sure has changed alot In the 20+ years Iāve lived here. Goose is on the bucket list, I have only been dove and duck hunting in the Katy area.
That should be pretty good down there too. The goose hunting was fantastic. We donāt get snow geese here.
Speaking if snow geese, I was based at Offutt AFB near Omaha. Just north of town is a ācrescent lakeā that was cut off from the Missouri at some point, and the goose winter migration would layover there, over a million geese on one lake. It was a sight to behold.
Theyāre protected here. Poop all over the place. 1 myn geese = 2myn lbs of goose poop, lol
That would definitely be a sight to remember. I cant tell you how many Iāve gone hunting and never shot anything because I got wrapped up in watching everything.

A couple of years ago the geese just used to fly by. A few years ago a couple stopped for awhile. Last year 8 landed and stayed for the summer. By the end of summer there were about 25 or so. I was walking in my field and it was literally covered in goose crap where they were hanging out at. Luckily they go between my property and a couple of the neighbors properties, the one has a āpondā.
Guess I will see where this is going in a about 2 monthsā¦ They arenāt protected up here I donāt think. If it gets out of hand I will look for some goose recipes.

Use potatoes, soaks up the grease. Also a 22 mag is just the right size and no spitting out shot.
