Welcome! Yes it’s natural to feel overwhelmed by the information on here. But it doesn’t take long to see who’s giving excellent advice consistently. Bookmark every post you think will be even slightly helpful, pick topics at random and read every single post. Write the best ones down, send PM’s to people, meet up with people in your area. This is one of the most supportive groups of professionals I’ve known in any trade. Be willing to be wrong, and be willing to accept why lol

yeah that was basically the purpose of my post/thread. i’ve been on many forums (none PW related) that all have had introductions sections. i have seen so many generous, intelligent, knowledgeable individuals share info, tips and tricks on this group and it’s definitely appreciated! i’ve also seen every chuck get grilled for not using the search function.

i’ve literally been screenshotting posts with important information and adding many things to my notes

Here’s a link to the search bar. It hasn’t been working for some lately and redirecting people to the window cleaning forum. Bookmark it so it’s within reach when you need it.

i’ve been using so much it’s probably worn out for other users

Good call. If you click the three dots at the bottom of any post, it brings up a tall rectangle with a triangle bite out of the bottom. That’ll bookmark; I go back all the time and look at my bookmarks. Especially helpful for the ā€œwhat will work on this stainā€ posts

I know what you meant about being overwhelmed with all of the information. That just means you’re doing a heck of a lot of research which is good. I felt the same way when I first came here and didn’t have a clue about the correct way to wash. To be honest once you have a decent understanding the best thing you can do is just get out there and start washing. Just start with basic house washes and flat work for family or friends. Eventually you’ll book some jobs that you’re not 100% on so just be sure to come on here and do a search for the info. I’ve been on jobs in the past where I’ve had to stop and do a quick search.

Just keep reading though. You might feel like you’re not going to remember everything but you’ll be on a job in the future and you’ll run across a situation where a post will come back to you. Even if you don’t completely remember the whole post or, exactly what to do, it will jog your memory enough to where you can come back on here and search for the thread you were thinking of.

South Austin,Kyle& Buda Area . You?

oh nice my sister lives in kyle. i’m south of houston.

@TheWashBoss it’s absolutely normal to feel overwhelmed, scared, unsure, second guessing things, thinking what if ā€œthisā€ or ā€œthatā€ happens. I remember 16 years ago when I was driving to my first ever paid job under official business name and gear I almost wanted to turn around Halfway because I was so nervous. There’s a million ways to skin a cat when starting out always focus on the very basics first wether it be downstreaming, x-jetting, 12volting, mixing SH, whatever! etc. absorb plenty of what @Racer @Innocentbystander @DisplacedTexan @Sasquatch @Hotshot have to say, very accurate advice. Good luck, and don’t spend it all at once. :+1:

@TheWashBoss reviving this post a little. I am also new to business and this forum. I jumped right in without introducing myself and got some great advice from the others mentioned here. Awesome group of professionals, trying to make a good living. I am just west of Houston in the Katy area and have been going since the beginning of January. My business filing hasn’t even finished processing yet. Anyhow, if anyone from the Houston wants to grab a beer or 2 or 5 let me know.
