I’ve been doing window cleaning, gutter cleaning, and power washing in Vancouver for quite some time now. I currently have a 4gpm / 4200 PSI pressure washer from princess auto. I am looking to get into roof cleaning and house washing. I have a few questions that I would hope to get answers to:
What equipment would you suggest I buy? (a new wand, tips, a chemical injector of some sorts, etc.)? I will make a list and purchase it all.
What chemicals would you suggest I buy? I already have lots of dish soap and detergent, but is there a specific type of bleach necessary?
In terms of mixing, is there different measures I should use for types of roofs / siding? I.e. a wooden roof would be different in comparison to a tile roof in terms of the amount of chemical being used, or vinyl siding in comparison to brick?
Thank you for your help. I appreciate any and all advice. If any threads have already answered these questions please direct me to them as to not waste time.
Do yourself a huge favor and return that machine to princess auto asap…they offer satisfaction guarantee and you can find a much better machine elsewhere. As for your questions, they have all been answered to many times for you to get a decent response on here. Type in any of your questions in to the search bar and you’ll find your answer and learn a lot. The best way to learn is to research research and then research again. This forum is a gold mine of information. Best of luck.
What would you suggest getting instead? I am looking for something that is versatile, easy to take in and out, etc. They have a great return and exchange policy - in the last 3 years I’ve gone through about one a year and every time I just get a brand new one from them - no questions asked!
If you have to physically remove it from the trailer, it gets tricky when buying a machine. I still have my 4/4 on wheels, but if I had to do it again it would have a pump that’s fully plumbed instead of the stupid fixed unloader I have.
Wish I had bought this as my ‘first’ machine instead.
Roof washing requires different equipment than house/concrete washing. I’d choose one or the other to start. Most begin with house and concrete cleaning. House washing is easy money IF you know what you’re doing. And, it’s pretty much all laid out in the archives here.
So you know…they’re really crappy machines. You are much better off finding one that won’t fail on you during or in between jobs. Look for used or new 4gpm minimum, preferably belt or gear drive.
Use the search function like I already suggested. You’ll find your answers…
Stop telling stories 212 degree water is nowhere near hot enough. That guys going to be there all morning trying to clean those shingles.
235degree is the true commercial standard . Everybody knows that
I agree it should be hotter than 212…steam cleaning roofs today is all the rave. Steam dehydrates mold and kills it. Most people know this who have 5 minutes of read time
I get the whole looking to find your information, but there is no one post that had answers to my questions. Figured someone would share some helpful insight instead of being a complete idiot. Thanks for the “tips” bud. You spent just as much time trolling as you could just answering a simple question to help someone out. Are you that bored? Get a life lol.
Then look for more than one post. There are literally hundreds of posts that will answer your questions. You asked a stupid question and got an appropriate answer. It’s my time, I’ll use it as I like
